Why do programs go out of business?

They aren't making any money now?

A few years ago you could see a new company spring up on a daily basis.

Some samples:

DeluxePass from Clement: Sales went DRAMATICALLY down after TUBES / FileLockers, people stopped paying for DVDs because all was free. Program no longer reliable/profitable.

AdultsAllowed from Shaun (owner of CAMFUZE or PrivateVoyeur): Same as ABOVE.

ARS: MarcDE was tired of doing money in adult and buying 10 ferraris and he went to work in the Mainstream Gaming industry, thus the program got stuck in time and got obsolete.

And there are so many others... Fuck, dozens and dozens went BROKEN during the last few years.

PIRIOD.

A few years ago it was impossible not to make money. Now it's a lot more difficult.

But why?

Is it because of more strict billing rules? (you cant bill people for three $50 memberships as easily as it used to). Or is it because of rampant piracy? Or maybe something else?

anexsia 08-18-2012 11:40 PM

The industry just couldn't sustain the awesomeness that was Yes Signals

teennutsuckers 08-18-2012 11:48 PM

adapt or die.

Alice22 08-19-2012 04:12 AM

Its' much harder to make money now.

We are working very very hard now. Once, it was such an easy money.

The Ghost 08-19-2012 04:56 AM

So far I've yet to see a program with exclusive content that still updates go out of business. Only have seen programs with shit non exclusive content or shady billing practices go out.

Any exceptions?

Jel 08-19-2012 05:58 AM

communicon/forgetsecondname/orgycash had to be kinda rescued by payserve, sales went to dogshit in 2009 and they had some fucking killer content, daily updates. Outstanding sites in fact. Pretty sure payserve got that program for an absolute steal compared to what the content cost to produce.

To make it simple, here's why.

Online porn spent 12 years or more teaching customers not to pay for porn. They used various methods to do this.

Online porn spent 12 years or more thinking getting traffic was the prime aim to selling.

Online porn spent 12 years or more giving away the product to get traffic, they all tried to out do each other in who could give away the most. Saying "Traffic is King", "Try selling anything without traffic", "I can sell anything if I have enough traffic". And other choice phrases.

Now they have all the traffic they could ever dream of. And so few of the surfers buy the cost of getting the traffic is sending them to the wall, selling off and getting out, getting out or a few of the top dogs still survive. Their turn will come.

A lot of people will now tell you this is rubbish, without saying anything else but look at someone else as how well they're doing. :Oh crap

No no no, there is no money to be made anymore guys.

You need to actually have a product worth paying for. Who would have ever thought?

LeRoy 08-19-2012 03:04 PM

Sometimes the program runs out of $$.

You gotta give it a shot though right??

Content, hosting, advertising and payroll... it all adds up :2 cents:

Zeiss 08-19-2012 03:29 PM

If all you think about is getting money, you will never get them...

adultmobile 08-20-2012 12:23 AM

Cam sites doing ok, even was a little better before 2008 honestly

2012 08-20-2012 12:28 AM

BAKO 08-20-2012 12:32 AM

PIRIOD!

ThumbLord 08-20-2012 02:39 AM

PIRIOD indeed

Paul Markham 08-20-2012 03:26 AM

Ways to adapt.

Get out of porn.
Open a Tube site.
Send traffic to niches and hope no one else does.
Send traffic to cams and dating.
Sell the big house and get a smaller one.
Same as above with the car.
Visit a pawn shop and sell some of the bling.

Retire on your pensions and sit back and chuckle because most think you got it wrong. :1orglaugh

You could run this experiment over 1000 times and it's guaranteed to always turn out the same.

Who needs to run it at all, to know giving it away for free in increasing amounts will ruin sales eventually?

Well the first one would be what most are doing.

It's not a list of "Do all these things" more a list of "Select from these options."

Sorry you didn't get it. :upsidedow
