Aleska nude in Santorini (PICS)

Seems most people liked my last picture post so here's one more of my favourites.

This is from the Greek island of Santorini with the model Aleksa (aka: Aleska Diamond). It is perhaps one of the most photogenic villas I've ever shot at. The colours are absolutely amazing for photography.

Villas like that are generally in the 2-3k/night, 25k/week range. This one is not very big. You are almost seeing the entire villa in the shots. If you went with a really big place it's more likely to be 4-6k which is a bit ridiculous for my purposes considering you never see the whole place in one shot.

ITC sale numbers are not something I would discuss. Suffice it to say we have been virtually on the same plane for the last 5 or 6 years which I'm thankful for since everyone else seems to be whining about lost sales.

I get that a lot. Some people think I shoot in a studio with a green screen and then drop a background behind the model. Of course if I did that it wouldn't explain so easily how my videos have the same sets. I think the impression is probably because of a couple of things with the way I shoot. One because I like to light virtually everything in the shot, not just the model, and two because I like to shoot with everything in focus. Don't believe in the shallow depth of field thing. The effect might be good or bad depending on a persons perspectives but at least I have a style of my own.

Not belittling the place. It's one of the best locations I've ever shot. Just saying the facts. You don't need a giant mansion to get an amazing location.

It's amazing how little so many people know about perspective and how professional shooters can make models look great just by picking a good lens with open aperture and soft fill-in flash using focal pane. It's not all about photo editing as many people think. Good shooters like you guys know how to avoid wasting time with Photoshop in the first place. Kudos to you. Great work and very consistent performance! Soemtimes I think inthecrack and alsscan are sister sites ;-)

Great shots, incredible villa, breathtaking view. It's a shame they have to put burglar bars on the windows.

mineistaken 08-12-2012 05:36 AM

2-3K/per day, strange - we usually rent same or better looking villas for that much for a week (for our holidays). Although I never rented in Santorini, but I doubt it cost much more than other resorts in Greece/Italy/Spain etc.
That price seems way too steep.

SGS 08-12-2012 06:05 AM

2-3K/per day????

You must have booked during the peak season, we went when the tourist season just started and villas were going for much less than 2k.

That sounds way off.. 2-3k would be for the week.. maybe 4k

inthecrack 08-12-2012 01:18 PM

Those of you suggesting that 2-3k/night is way off are not considering a lot of factors. I have been doing this for many years with all kinds of villas in many exotic locations so I know what they go for. Yes maybe you can get a hotel/resort for 2-3k/week but this is not a hotel. You cannot shoot this stuff any place where there are other people around. No hotel is going to give the ok to shoot on their property and doing it on the sly is asking for trouble. Maybe some of you do that but you are probably just a camera and a girl. We have a small truck full of pro equipment. This place is a 4 bedroom private villa that comes with it's own staff, meals prepared, a car, etc. It's quite literally the only high end place in Santorini that does not have a neighbour breathing down your neck. Those of you suggesting that I could get an equivalent place that looks this good for 2-3k per week should get busy finding it for me and I'll pay you a 20% finders fee.

Theo 08-12-2012 04:13 PM

Price sounds about right, 2-3k a week gets you a good hotel room in santorini, not a villa

I cannot claim to produce shots without photoshop. There's always something that needs a bit of work, a cable in the background, the leg of a stand, reflections in glass, some levels adjustments etc.

I don't see ITC and ALS as being all that similar at all. Some content is a bit similar but the shooting style is completely different.

Are you saying we are dumb? :) Of course we are talking about villas as well, not hotel rooms or resorts. Except for the one dude who spammed some hotel reservation site (which is irrelevant when we speak about privately owned VILLAS for rent).
I agree, Santorini is a bit more expensive than other mediteranian islands, but damnd 2-3k/DAY for a villa is still crazy. 25k/week is nuts... :)

Phoenix 08-12-2012 05:02 PM

nice location...would love to check out a nice villa...with in room massage attendants..lol

Depends what your priorities are. If you're just going for a holiday then maybe 2-3k/day is nuts.... (or maybe not if you were a wealthy person and you like nice places. I mean that's why these places are in business to start with). If you want some awesome content then you gotta pay for it. A basic shoot location in LA is 1k. A real nice one is 1.5 to 2k. Now add in that the location is also your accommodation and board and you are in an exotic location and then you are already there. I really didn't expect people to come on here and tell me I'm nuts. You have no business assuming what a persons priorities are.
