Can someone explain this traffic question

Traffic has never been my thing and my pay sites are like the 15th on my list of ways to make money, I almost never deal with them.
I pretty much get the same amount of small traffic each day for years but yesterday I got 30 times my normal traffic, i'm talking thousands which is a lot since I get next to none and when I looked to see where it came from I do not get it. Most (50% I am guessing) is from cell phones and it doesn't show they clicked any link.
My question is when people use their cell phones on google or yahoo will it still show that in the tracking or does it make it look like they typed it in and either way how the hell did I get thousands of hits yesterday too. I got more joins then I had for the month.
Today is not near as much traffic but more then a normal day already.
This makes me want to put some effort in the pay site. I just want to make the most of it.

It gets more joins then 99% of the people on this message board without me looking at it, I was wondering how 20K traffic just shows up with all the type ins or does it not show links for cell phone users. Now I have spent more time with you then the pay site this year :)

Same thing happened to me last week. I got a little over 10,000 uniques one day from 800 new referrers. I'm guessing that someone set up some ads and made a typo with the URL since it went back to normal the next day.

If its mobile traffic and not converting for you, you could setup a mobile redirect from JuicyAds and make some good money on it. :pimp

sounds like a bot stuck on your site causin the hits or the same person just hitting refresh. did sales go up or just hits?
