Hoppy IPA Day (pics)

So, for you hopheads out there, what IPA will you be consuming tonight?

I already know I will have an Atticus to start off, then perhaps a Black Sand IPA.

Greenflash Brewery is making some tasty IPA's in San Diego!

wiggitywack 08-02-2012 06:20 PM

So may great West coast IPA's. Let's not forget the Bear Republic Racer 5.

Back east here, I prefer the Heady Topper from The Alchemist. Only downside is you
can only really get it in Vermont.

Score of 100 on Ratebeer http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/27039/16814/

This was a good IPA day, for sure.

As predicted, started with the Atticus by Strand Brewing Co, here in Torrance

Atticus on the right, a Beach Amber on the left.

Then the Black Sand IPA, also by Strand Brewing

We then headed to Hermosa and The Brewery at Abigaile for their newly released (yesterday) East Meets West DIPA. Man, this stuff is so good.

I had a Pelgrim Delfshaven IPA.
It's a dutch IPA from the Pelgrim Brouwerij and there's a bit of history behind the name.

The brewery is located next to the Pilgrims Fathers Church in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
That church is where the Pilgrims Fathers held their last service before leaving for Southhampton on the Speedwell

The next time I go to NL I want to spend some time in Rotterdam. Pat and Nadya already convinced me I need to do that. :thumbsup

You sure do :)

Make sure you don't skip the part called "Delfshaven". By far the most beautiful piece of Rotterdam. Most of the city was destroyed in WWII and rebuilt..this bit is still original.

The church I mentioned was originally built in 1417 I think. It's a bit of American history :P
And ofcourse, be sure to check out the brewery :winkwink:

In my experience, the Dutch have a lot to learn compared to their southern neighbors when it comes to making beer. But I hear the Dutch are closing the gap on the Belgians, which is good to hear. In any case, I suggest all beer geeks do a Belgian beer tour at some point in their lives, as it will change you forever in a very good way.

IPA is so 2010, All-Brett beer is the new hype.

wiggitywack 08-03-2012 06:27 AM

Brettanomyces and Oude Geuze. How perfect together.

DVTimes 08-03-2012 06:29 AM

Choopa_Pardo 08-03-2012 06:31 AM

Not a big IPA fan, but I might grab a weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA for the evening.
