Kissing porn directories goodbye?

Is it time to now kiss all the porn blog directories goodbye in terms of linking and interlinking? Lots of people of talking removing links etc. Is now the time to run thru sites and get rid of all the linking to the directories in which I'm buried at??

Adopt or die. The SEO rules have changed dramatically.

I would not do any serious link removing before another penguin refresh, just to see if google comes back from this stupid illness

On the other hand directories were dead thing long time ago anyway

I'm asking you, how does one "adapt" in your opinion? What does one need to do today in terms of SEO and ranking?

lbc213 08-02-2012 05:35 PM

They are still doing ok, i have a few and they seem to do ok with google. Nothing amazing but they never have been.

xxxjay 08-02-2012 05:52 PM

I am still able to move serps up by acquiring new links. Even after penguin. Just know who you are linking with, make sure the site is decent quality, and stay relevant. Google's core PargeRank remains the same.

John. 08-02-2012 06:29 PM

Links from directories can still be useful, provided there is a very large variation in the keywords used for anchor text

Thermosphere 08-02-2012 06:32 PM

What are you guys talking about?

GAMEFINEST 08-02-2012 06:42 PM

they are still important

anexsia 08-02-2012 06:50 PM

I still use them, I made 20 new blogs and did not submit them to directories...the only difference I noticed traffic wise was that the blogs that were submitted started receiving more traffic from Google earlier on. It wasn't that big of a difference but still enough for me to decide I'm better off taking the extra 30 seconds to submit every new blog. Just do a test and try making some blogs and not submitting them for a few months and then study your traffic to see if there's any difference.

The only badside I have seen is that if you want to sell hardlinks, some webmasters don't want your sites having blog directory links on them.

Also in year or two your links are buried in some deep pages of directories, while you linking back from your frontpage (or even from every page if using wp).

You can of course drop those links later.. but then you are cheater... ?

This is the exact question I was going to ask.

Think about it...is it really a FAIR trade after it leaves the homepage or gets buried?

Aren't pagerang and SERPs two different things?

kazbalah 08-02-2012 08:25 PM

My opinion is google will alter the penguin update.

Imagine this - If having a couple of bad links into your site will ruin your rankings, then we will find a new type of business emerging.

SEE - Search engine espionage - chuck a couple of links up to your competitors, watch them drop - no one will be safe..

AllAboutCams 08-02-2012 08:54 PM

im still submitting

which is why the whole idea is moronic

Exactly - Im fucking sick of google and its fucking updates

Antonio 08-02-2012 10:13 PM

Google just getting messier and messier - if I change the settings to show 100 search results per page instad of 10, I am getting dozens of pages from the same domain for pretty much 90% of the searches. Is this local thing or are you guys seeing the same? Searching for "naked"....

As for the penguin update, I don't think the Google dudes know what they are doing. It wiped out thousands of legit sites along with the ones with dodgy links; then again, even now you can build thousands of spammy links and rank well....

Yep, nothing new.

kazbalah 08-02-2012 10:26 PM

I have seen lots of searches, where the same site is listed on multiple pages.. page 1 has a link for them, page 2, page 3 - Seems like google is making a bit of a mess of itself
