What's the ideal internet speed from home?

Hi guys,

I have to start uploading videos and pictures onto a site soon and as I have never done something like this I was wondering what's your internet speed at home to do all this operation? Or do you upload all of your content from a dedicated server for a much faster speed? How do you guys do it to save time and such?

Do you have a dedicated server for uploading purposes only? I am getting around 15mbps from home internet.

Thanks!!!

The ideal speed is fast. That's the one I use at home. I suppose you could use a dedicated server to upload using SSH. I would still use the fast speed for loading to that server though, especially from home. But once you got everything on that server, it would fly like the wind to any server you wanted to upload to. That's pretty much what it's all about, utilizing the fastest speed possible. (my post count is up to 1,567 with this post, thanks)

When you say 15 it is probably the download speed. If your going to be uploading a lot of movies then you need the upload speed. I don't know your plan or provider but usually if someone says they have 15 that is down and it come's with about 1.5-3 for an upload speed.
I have 30 both ways at my office where I do my uploading. That comes with a pricetag of $1000 install fee and $300 monthly billing.
At home I get 15 down and 3 up from a cable company. Also at home I use the internet for mostly viewing and I don't need such a fast upload speed. There I pay $80 monthly.
Good luck in your new biz.

I have 20 mbps upload at home. I get hd movies, etc..uploaded to my servers in no time!

I would say 20Mbps , it's over 2mb per second, so any hd vid will run fine...

It's 9GB data per hour cap, so i dont need more :D
