Google cracks me up.
Today I got an email from AFF telling me that since my conversion ratio was so low they were switching me from per click to revshare. I haven't actively promoted AFF in years, but I have a few random pages floating around out there with links to them still on them. The traffic is a trickle at best.
I log into my stats and see a bunch of hits, check where they are coming from and find out that today, for whatever reason, Google decided to rank one of my images high in image search. The page is several years old and long neglected. The odds are in a few days it will disappear deep into the rankings again. I sometimes thing that the engineers at Google from time to time smoke some good weed then randomly select a site, rank it, the unrank it just to humor themselves. |
They're a fair-minded bunch over at Google, always trying to think up ways of giving everyone a shot at the title and rotating in those lesser known or long forgotten pages and images. Such a thoughtful company.
Or so I like to tell myself. :D |
Ive nver smoked week b4 what is it?

I've had similar happen before - sort of.
Had a splog that was the only site I had promoting a certain sponsor - the blog maybe, MAYBE got 20 visits/day on its best day... but Google ranked one of my affiliate links #4 for about 5 days.. got a lot of sign ups, then ... back to nothing. I think they're just ornery assholes. |
Live by Google, die by Google. It would truly be interesting once they fully implement their complete brand-based algo
