There's some cultural gap here, and it's hard for an American to understand the pictures.

Is this to document some isolated, extended family living in a remote part of Siberia? What is Transsiberia?

Siberia certainly is not Moscow. It explains how huge the difference is between the capital and suburban life in Russia.
A photographer from Holland stopped at several stations along the Transsiberian to spend a night at the local dwelling.

This applies to any country. Have you seen all those endless trailed parks and hovels outside of big cities in the USA? I've seen them a lot.

Not sure if it can be applied ... One hardly can live like that in Alaska conditions :)

Thats what i dont understand.

The times in my life where I have been poor, I have done without a tv without a cell phone, with out many things. For the 100$ plus a phone costs you can buy a bed to sleep on. Food to eat etc. For the 20 to 60 a phone costs a month you can eat etc.

No I dont understand people now days.

There is less opportunity I get it but it's not all magical here like you think either.

Many opinions on American life are taken from how people live on television shows. And that's true. But no television shows are based around the stars living in Eastern Kentucky, rural West Virginia, etc.

What I find fascinating about the images of Russia's poor is the decor and landscape not the people. This is equally true of the opulence from Russia's past. The decor and architecture is awesome.
