What is it that makes Playboy special to Playboy fans?

Your thoughts please?

Why would a Playboy fan go to Playboy rather than one of the 1000's of other nude sites on the net? What is it that makes Playboy special to that Playboy fan?

The Playboy fan will most likely prefer Softcore to Hardcore, but there are still many other softcore sites out there. Playboy give information about the girls; where they're from and sometimes the girl tells a bit about her life and ambitions. This is something I don't see very often in other softcore sites. Another key point is that the Playboy brand has the power to convince a nice non-porn girl to pose, a girl who would never have agreed to pose for anyone else, but she sees Playboy as Art. So my own theory is that a big part of the attraction to Playboy is the nice non-porn girls who you can get to know a bit about, whilst seeing them nude at the same time.

Anyway, what do you think, even if you don't like Playboy yourself, what do you think it is that makes the Playboy fan love Playboy so much?

Thanks in advance :thumbsup

And what are the key ingredients that make people trust the Playboy brand?

longevity and a proven track record of quality

wehateporn 07-16-2012 07:28 AM

Definitely some of that in it! I wonder how much their brand could be changed before people would say "This isn't Playboy anymore!" for example, if Playboy eventually moves towards Hardcore

True Harmon! :thumbsup Would you say that Playboy itself is a niche? That Playboy's way of presenting their girls is actually a niche within adult?

Well, there is a reason that celebs are willing to take off their clothes for this magazine, where as they otherwise wouldn't touch a lick of "porn" anyplace else.

I am not talking about moron, ugly cunts like Octomom either.

So yeah, I would say they are more or less in a league of their own.

wehateporn 07-16-2012 07:44 AM

It is unusual that a celeb will pose nude for another magazine, Playboy is unique in that way like you say

The bunny logo is one of the most recognized logos in the world

It's very smart how they've expanded the use of that logo into clothing etc. For women it has a different meaning than it does for men.

Some of the Playboy Coeds/Amateurs who pose seem a bit surprised with the reality of Playboy, one recent example is Hayden Hayes http://www.haydenhayes.net/images/Pl...yden-Hayes.jpg who was shocked when she realized Playboy had published a full frontal nude of her. She must have imagined that Playboy style was more like FHM

"I was really surprised that I was fully naked and that it was a frontal view" Hayes continued "It's one of those times when you don't like hearing your own voice. I was super excited but at the same time was ready to move on"

The bunny logo is the only thing at Playboy that makes money really.

No offense to Playboy, but any slut that is walking around with Playboy bunny clothing on or a Playboy bunny tattoo is a washed up 80's whore. Usually you see them on the back of some 50 something year old's Harley. That shit is so played out it isn't even funny. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

:thumbsup Just saying The Brand shows a lack of understanding marketing. Brands are established on how a product performs and word of mouth. Not by how many times someone sees a banner.

You can advertise crap until your blue in the face and broke. Unless people find what they're looking for when they buy, they don't buy that brand again.

Seriously Paul, what do you think the word brand means?

So many brand new teen girls entering the scene STILL get those done.

My 10 year old daughter wanted a T Shirt with the Bunny Logo on. She didn't get one. Doesn't know why though. :1orglaugh

Dads likes Playboy. His sons like real porn.

In a lot of areas of the world, even in the USA, the younger generation doesn't even really connect the Playboy brand with adult. The rabbit is trendy and looks cute. I think it's tacky and screams white trash, but some kids like it.

The Playboy calendar of 1969. First "porn" I ever laid eyes on.

Ah memories. lol

my opinion is that the playboy brand, from the dude end, represents a lifestyle. The founder is rich, wears silk robes, lives in a mansion, surrounds himself with the highest quality ladies. He fulfills his fans fantasies of being a playboy themselves. Going to a playboy party is on the bucket list of a lot of dudes.

from the ladies end, since playboy is so picky, it represents a standard of female beauty that ladies aspire to be. Not many modeling jobs have the same level of class.

:2 cents:

my expertise is in playboy memorabilia and back issues (i.e. print media) and not so much in the online properties....
without writing a 600 word dissertation this statement (DWB) sums it up. the 35 to 60 crowd still 'respect' the playboy brand. They expect quality photos and exotic layouts, decent literature, and compelling interviews. I personally think besides the centerfold, the interview is what holds the younger gens interest.

Look at it this way, the only magazine that has a serious collector following is Playboy. I sell them to people every day. NO other brand/magazine can say that.

Instead of finding dads playboys under the mattress, these kids are hitting the internet....

edit...well said joshgirls
