Why it is sometimes just easier to pirate

Due to my location, all I have at my disposal is cracked software. It is very difficult to find legit software in Thailand, especially professional audio / video software. No fear, I can download it from their site and download it. No problem

Well, that didn't work either.

For some reason they would not process the purchase. So off to another store who was selling the same software online, they took the sale no problem and said they would ship it to me. Whatever, I need it. I can wait a week or two. Lets just do it and get it on the way.

I should have insisted they sent it FedEx but I didn't. Nor did I think much of it when they sent me a tracking number for the US Postal Service. I just thought anyone who ships internationally would know better than to send it on the slow boat to China.

So almost two weeks later I looked into the shipment and noticed they used the US Postal Service and the package has been fucking off in New York all this time for reasons unknown. And the tracking stopped there.

I call the USPS to see what the hold up is and they inform me that it did leave the USA yesterday, but once the package has left the USA, they can usually no longer track it and maybe they will get info, maybe not, they can only really keep track until it leaves the USA, which is did.

Where is it now? They don't know.

When will it get here? Between 6 business days and 1 month or MORE. They don't know. It could be a while. They can't see it anymore.

It's already been over 6 business days, any ideas? Nope. Sorry, can't help you.

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

It would be much, much, easier just to go buy a cracked copy CD from the local bootleg store.

This is what you get when you try to do the right thing. :1orglaugh

Isn't it nuts how shopping malls in 3rd world countries just flat out sell bootleg shit like its cool? It really is harder to find the real deal.

I prefer to have money?

SilentKnight 07-12-2012 04:58 PM

Why not get a buddy in North America to buy it for you...and have him ship it instead?

Props to ya' for at least attempting to do the right thing and buy legit copies. It's ridiculous that companies toss roadblocks in your way when it's only in their best interests to make you a happy, satisfied customer.

If their product is already stolen and available everywhere for penny, why wouldn't they just allow downloads to serve those few customers who wish to pay and to buy legally?

adultdomainseller 07-12-2012 04:59 PM

so DWB isn't completely straight after all?

Even MS is letting users buy and download an ISO of Windows now, super cool.

brassmonkey 07-12-2012 05:01 PM

that's a weird admission as i look at your sig. :)

grumpy 07-12-2012 05:02 PM

never had a problem buying software online.

Axzar 07-12-2012 05:40 PM

Heh, I have been in the Philippines 8 years. Home to the USA for a month. Trying to buy some things and most businesses won't ship to my USA address because I am confirmed in the PHL. It's killin me!

fuzebox 07-12-2012 07:05 PM

There is no tracking between each country's national postal service. The last thing you'll see on USPS is when it leaves the country, and then when it ever hits Thailand customs, you'll be able to plug the same USPS tracking number in http://track.thailandpost.co.th/trac...lt.aspx?lang=t to track it in your country.

bronco67 07-12-2012 08:21 PM

There is legit software everywhere. You just go the company's site, buy it and download it from their servers. I haven't had a boxed software shipped to me in years.

I don't understand your problem. You were saying you can't download it from the seller's site?

GAMEFINEST 07-12-2012 09:56 PM

why can't you just download it from online? after you pay

freecartoonporn 07-13-2012 12:49 AM

a client of mine lost 2 wrist watches in shipment, the tracking gets fucked up when its going from country to country.,
the only option is fedex.

Not in Thailand. Even the stores claiming they sell legit software are only selling really good copies.

Did you guys bother reading my post?

I always buy my software online and download it, but for some reason Sony would not accept my payment, even though I have bought from them before. Tried for two days. So I could not buy and download from the maker. I had to find a reseller, but they did not allow downloads, only would ship it.

Admission of what, that it would have been easier to use a pirated copy instead of buying it? Try reading the post and not the thread title. I bought it.

I had no idea they would track USPS. Thanks! :thumbsup

CamTraffic 07-13-2012 05:03 AM

that kinda suck, but hey! you re in Thailand so i don't feel bad for you!

A lot of people uses that logic when buying regular online porn, much easier/faster/convenient to go to a free tube and so a search than log in to a paid member area.

The Duck 07-13-2012 05:11 AM

A small price to pay to live in Thailand :)

kazymjir 07-13-2012 05:13 AM

DWB, bad news for you.
I had two shipments from USA by US Postal Service to Central Europe. The package arrived to me... after two months! It was sent by damn boats, which leaves the port (if I good remember) two times per month. That's why the shipping is taking so long.

wehateporn 07-13-2012 05:14 AM

We did that with a program and had a friend bring it down. Customs stopped him and wanted to charge 2K US dollars tax on it we paid 350$, He called me and I told him to just give it to them and they could keep it. They said no he had to pay. its a usable disk. so i told him to break it. Non usable means no tax. lesson learned.

Yea, that would be really bad news. I would rather buy it again and ship it over night than wait 2 months.

The irony of that is, the Thai cyber crime division uses bootleg Windows installs.

We usually use a buddy mule system between a few of us to get stuff in and out of here and back home. But right now the next mule in is the end of next month. It is possible he would be faster.

I too would break it if they tried to get me to pay 2k tax on it. Considering the locals sell the same thing for $3 bootleg, I'd prob break it, spit on it, toss it at my feet, and kick it to them while calling them cheating buffaloes with black hearts. That would be insulting to them. May get my ass kicked too, but sometimes you just gotta knock these inbred monkeys down to earth.

The gayest is fuckign adobe. If I recall correctly, if you go to american site photoshop is like $699 or something, but if you go the Polish site its like 999 euros for the *english version* - the exact same thing. I emailed them asking about it and they said it was due to the exchange rate lol

bronco67 07-13-2012 07:03 AM

I'd like to have sex with 10 Thai girls for 20 dollars, but I can't do that where I live --so be thankful you have that.

They says USD is stronger than EUR? Nice.
