    Are google ads cheating for clicks?

    go to any youtube video...and try to close the ad on the video
    as you are about to press the close button....the ad moves up, so if you were to press close you would click the ad.

    no biggie for the surfer, just close the page and watch the video
    however someone is paying for that.

              Google is beyond corrupt, and is borderline useless. This is one company that needs to be brought down a few notches.

              You don't expect Google to actually follow the rules that they impose on us?

                  To pad their pockets I think they lower the rank of some adword buying sites.

                      Now that you mention it, last 2 week every time I watched a youtube video all of a sudden the video stoped halfway and a banner offering software to speed up Macs appeared. I'm on a Mac. It hasn't happened again since Saturday and I wonder if it they were doing it on purpose to make me click on that ad.

                                              Thats the nature of some ad agencies, they do a good job basically. As an advertiser, you would want your ad for tigerdirect appearing on sites if you knew a client had been searching on tigerdirect for a new computer. etc. Pretty soon there'll be banner ads in our dreams interrupting our sex with super models.

                                                  I think on youtube though, what you mention is in full screen mode and happens because the toolbar just happens to hide right when the banner appears.

                                                          I must have clicked those ads a dozen times in the past week. That's one way to raise clickthru rates.
