Software I can deploy to block certain websites on a network?..techie related shit...

I don't want to go to each pc host file if possible , and would prefer not to adjust the main router/firewall...

Using the Open DNS filter there is a easy bypass to it (ie change your dns on the individual pc)

Anybody have good software ... doesn't have to be be free but has to be easy to use and effective...

If all machines use the same DNS resolver you only need to change it in 1 location.

If you're trying to block yourself from going to gay porn sites just download a parental filtering software and when you have to setup the password just bang a bunch of random keys on your keyboard.

why not? That's probably the quickest and easiest way for blocking multiple computers.

So you do not want to use the router and do not want to use the hosts files.

How do you want to do it ? Magic?

I know that you mentioned that you don't want to modify the router, but the easiest route is to configure the router to hand out the OpenDNS server settings in DHCP, then use the OpenDNS dashboard online to block sites accordingly.

Controlling from the central point of config is your best bet.
