When I started in "File Lockers" 10+ years ago my service was used for business backup. At that time we made it our mantra that we respected our users privacy and at no time does any employee have access to users files. When we went public everything related to complaints was handled using scripts and content was removed immediately depending on certain criteria.

Surfers didn't give a fuck because they would just re-upload if anyone made a complaint which was rare.

Surfers loved us, we stayed under the radar and as far as I and anyone else was concerned I really had no idea what my site was really being used for. :1orglaugh

This afternoon we pre-empted a move by Extabit to use a 3rd party processor. Application rejected. We're now going to go after resellers and keep hassling Webmoney who are all that Extabit are left with.

Best would be to get the billing companies to require file sharing sites to verify each registration for each uploader, so that it would be easy to track those uploading pirated content. Or something similiar to that.
