Questions re: Model releases

Last photo shoot I got model releases from everyone, however, I have the following questions:

1) What ties the shoot to the release? Do I need a new release for each shoot? Or just per model?

2) I am using a generic adult model release I found online, it is not a legal or binding document in any way in the country I am shooting, it is in English and the girls can't even read it. They know it gives me permission to use their photos and they sign so I imagine it covers my ass internationally and shows good faith, I also have pics of the girls signing the release. Is that good enough? Do I need to do more?

As far as where the girls are locally I am not worried. I don't go there and the girls don't know who I am. The document licenses the content to my company not my person and even if I was in the same grocery line with them they would not know who I am unless I chose to tell them.

you have to have them fill out a new release every time you shoot (unless it is the same day)

If you have to ask these questions? Get an attorney... leave the industry... or send me my fucking tee shirt. Cunt.

Leave the industry.

I have to agree. Minus the profanity.

So the shoot date, being the same as the document date ties the release to the shoot?

Get a model release you know to be right, not one you think might be right.

Get it translated to the language the models can read.

Make sure they bring ID with their name, D.O.B., picture and signatures on. Two IDs are best. On every scene take a picture of them holding the ID's next to their face with this filling the frame. Watch out for the light reflecting into the the camera so no one can read the IDs. Also lay the IDs flat on the floor and take a close up of them.

If you want to some shoot the girls signing the MR and saying they understand what they're doing, they got paid and are happy to do the work. You should definitely do this if you do anything extreme.

The moment the work is published and the girls find it. you don't want them to come looking for you. with a BF or lawyer.

This is a business, not a game.

QFT!

I might add, shoot the ID/MR process on video too, since it is easier to get a screen grab in focus (on some cameras, the LCD makes it look in focus, when it may actually be out of focus).

Also, carefully check the release to ensure that the info matches. More than once I have had a model put different info on her Model Release than was on her ID (including a different name altogether).

Additionally, if you are planning to release your content in the US, you really should have models fill-in a separate 2257 form. :2 cents:

You can fill in multiple dates for shoots and have her sign it. That's totally acceptable. What you can't do is make your first shoot and then assume all consecutive shoots will be covered by same release.

Usually, I take photos of the models holding up the signed release form together with a daily newspaper from same day. I got that advice from a shooter here on GFY :-)
