Phone/Tablet: Android
Workstation: Linux Mint Debian Edition
Server: Debian Squeeze

Gaming (rarely): Windoze (wine works ok sometimes but... fuck that)

Mr Pheer 06-19-2012 04:15 AM

I voted Apple because I like it better, but I use both daily to make money.

raymor 06-19-2012 06:16 AM

Wow that's almost as bad as "would you rather watch your parents have sex everyday, or join in just once?"

This! Or put CentOS on everything so they all match, which is what I do. My desktop, my laptop, my servers, my office file server, my pbx, even my DVR are all basically CentOS configured for the role. I have SOURCE, so any problem is easily fixed and any feature easily added.

Markul 06-19-2012 06:38 AM

Here we go again...

CyberHustler 06-19-2012 06:40 AM

I like both. Apple mostly for entertainment, microsoft mostly for work.

Firehorse 06-19-2012 06:47 AM

I have 2 Macs - mostly used for Music production and Multi-media applications.
Everything else I use the PC's for. I have an iPhone 4S and an Android phone.

Eh, LMDE is still Debian :P Well, Debian testing anyway. I really only use LMDE because I like the mint menus ><

I really prefer Debian over anything else. Only thing I really don't like is how long it takes between distro releases; but then, I prefer stability and security over anything else so it's not really that big of a deal. And wheezy will be locked soon - if it hasn't been already, supposed to be some time this month but i haven't checked lately - so we might actually see a new release some time in early 2013 ><

Come on Oy - you know the answer. Apple's products and operating system is superior.

To be honest, I do not own a single Apple product. I even dropped my old iPhone for an android based telephone. The only Apple product I am considering is the iPad, but now that MS is coming out with Surface I think I will wait and check that product instead. :2 cents:

MaDalton 06-20-2012 04:58 AM

i like the one thet lets me decide how to handle my stuff, how to organize my music and pictures and what software to use

while i see that Apple products make some things easier because of the integration with each other, i dont like being told what to do and how.

also i dont like to pay 3 times of what the hardware is really worth just beause it looks fancy

xenigo 06-20-2012 05:00 AM

Fuck... just buy all of them. They're all good products. Buy an iPad 3, the Surface Pro, and an Asus Transformer Prime Android 5.0 tablet when it's released at the end of the year...

And then grab a MacBook Pro Retina, the MacBook Air 13", and the Lenovo X1 Carbon.

All your bases will be covered, and you'll have a lot of toys that will satisfy you completely until next year when you can replace them all then.

acctman 06-20-2012 05:07 AM

Currently have an iPad 3 but will be getting a Surface Pro

alf6300 06-20-2012 05:48 AM

I'm no MS fanboy, but this thing looks cool on paper.

Tijuana_Tom 06-20-2012 06:00 AM

Everything Microsoft has done (except xBox) has flopped.

Are you specifically talking about the tablet?

W8 Metro is a hell of a lot more interesting than iOS.

The Microsoft Pro Tablet will allow you to have a real computer in tablet form, finally.

My fear is it just won't have enough power and desktop software will struggle.

I don't think anyone is going to be playing Diablo 3 on it.

Umm, that's because tablets aren't meant to be replacements for pc's.. at least not for another 10 or so years...

2MuchMark 06-20-2012 08:59 AM

Apple products are amazing. Their computers are slick, fast, and never crash. OS/X is lightyears beyond Windows. iPhones, iPads, and other devices are perfect and best of all connectivity between all of them is simple and fast. Extremely impressed with the whole Apple line.

I used to think that PCs & Windows were great until about 4 years ago. I now spend 100% of my work time actually working instead of messing around with drivers and fighting malware.

just a punk 06-20-2012 09:30 AM

I can't afford Apple "products", they are to gay for me.

Chosen 06-20-2012 10:26 AM

Between these two, definitely Microsoft :pimp

mineistaken 06-25-2012 05:13 AM

Its really not ( I had a macbook and a macbook pro)and it only has to work with what 4 or 5 computers that the os maker controls. Windows has to work on over a million possible combinations.

Agree with this.

Changing to apple for me meant increase in productivity and removed the constant stress and headache from having to work with PC/windows.

What stress and headache? I have three all work fine.

L-Pink 06-25-2012 07:01 AM

I like bright shiny things so I use macs.

61% of the poll agree with me ...

Lace 06-25-2012 07:04 AM

I enjoy windows on the computer for the ease of use and compatibility.

As for phones, I will stick to an android based os. I had a windows phone that was horrible. Dumped that and stuck with my evo3d.

I have never and will never purchase any Apple product. I won an ipod from a sponsor probably 7-8 years ago that I still have. Needless to say, it still has the plastic on the front of it and sits on my desk.

candyflip 06-25-2012 10:38 AM

I prefer OSX to Windows, but aside from they they don't have any competing products that I use.

And tablets won't be replacing PCs, our smartphones will be replacing our desktops.

I just built a new Pc computer, the parts from newegg cost me around $2,400. I bet you can spend 5K on an apple computer and it won't match mine.

Edit: Apple is made for the average user, who checks email and browses the web.

Uhh, I'm pretty sure you have that backwards... Mac is by far more stable and powerful than a PC. The average user who checks e-mail and browses the web goes out to best buy and purchases a windowns machine for $399.

You can buy a "shitty" mac and it still be more stable than windows. Do you think anyone would use a windows server farm to process videos?

Don't care how much you spend on the computer build, you are still running a very unstable OS. Do I grudgingly use Windows on some of my builds? Yes. Do I continue to invest in Mac? Absolutely.

SmutHammer 06-25-2012 12:59 PM

Does mac have a 8 core processor out yet? I'm also running dual gtx-6700 cards, solid state drives etc. and I don't understand the whole "stable" thing, I blame crashes on users, my windows 7 runs smooth.

oh, and the average apple user, has no clue what's going on. they like shiny things... don't get me wrong, I like shiny stuff too, my Lv laptop bag was well over 2K and doesn't do any better of a job than a wallmart one, but apple in my eyes is shit, being forced to use itunes to load files on your ipad or iphone or whatever.... really? I just plug my phone or tablet into any computer and can transfer with ease.

Because of it's integrated hardware/OS/software, Mac rules when it comes to graphics intensive work (photography and video editing) imho... :2 cents:

He was talking about building his computer in general, not windows...for all you know he could have stuck Linux on his new build.

I could care less if someone wants to use OSX instead of Windows but you can build a PC with the same specs as a Mac. I think you're confusing operating systems with hardware.

kane 06-25-2012 01:15 PM

I have to say Microsoft if for no other reason than I don't have any real experience with Apple products. I don't see a whole lot of added value for the price so I never got into them.

Agreed, though it was implied by the previous edit. "Average users" won't be building a computer. "Average" users will buy a PC with the OS Loaded. And by the sound of it, it is a tower, not for a rack space.

Granted, I'm assuming. But eh, who really cares?
