How'd you find your accountant?
 

I had a guy doing my accounting for about 3 years and he screwed up majorly and cost me $10,000. So I've been looking for someone new and I've gotten referrals from friends and friends of the family who run mainstream businesses and so far EVERY SINGLE ONE of the accountants I've been referred to has turned me down because my business is involved with pornography.

I don't want to lie to them, that'd be too complicated....so how did you find your accountant?

And is there anyone who uses an accountant who's not in the same state?

Mine is a drug addict.

But he's a good accountant.

luckly my father is CPA, i have nothing to worry about in that dept.

Mortgage czars of course.... we know all the best shady accountants. :glugglug

Turned you down?! Why would someone turn down a potential customer just because they do porn? Money is money, regardess if it comes from Mom & Pops Flower Shop or online porn. Or am I just missing something here??

yellow pages worked for me and i know my taxes well enough that i could quiz him and make sure he was competent.

his ad caught my eye cuz he also has an MBA and I enjoy visiting him once a year and talking business trends and economics and so forth. the fact i work in porn was never an issue....

I just tell them I get website royalties...

I did music before this and made money thru MP3.com

I use the aformentioned H&R Block. And I found them out of the yellow pages.

I didn't tell them about the porn angle yet - just said that I sell memberships to internet sites.

After submitting my figures to the government tax dept (IRS equivalent), they came back with the question 'what does content mean', so I just said 'material that I lease for use on my sites', and that satisfied them.
