Dreamweaver MX.
If people actually took the time to see all it can do, they would use no other. There is a reason they lead the market. And don't give me crap about hand coding. You spend 1 hour on yours, I spend 5 min on mine. |
the formal answer is notepad, but if you take it serious DW MX

Using editors is for sissies
I write mine on a piece of paper scan it through my printer use OCR to decipher the characters and then paste them into wordperfect for msdos convert it into a windows text file, from there I reload it into notepad and rename the files .html it's easy and fast don't forget, for similar pages, I can cut the pages apart and tape the html I have written together, with scotch tape rescn it, and I am away, never having to rewrite the same thing twice (until the pages get all wrinkly) |
i'm a big fan of notepad also, but if you want a very fast text editor with some extra features, try out:
arachnophilia it's available at www.arachnoid.com |
machine code.

Personally I'd have to agree with the DW fans, if I need to hand edit some code, I hit the old F10 and viola, no need for notepad anymore really imo....
although there's nothing wrong with hand coding, why waste the time? it's not like it really produces much better code anymore... these WYSIWYG editors have come a lonnnnng way.... |
I have Dreamweaver, Homesite, and Frontpage 2000.... and I use Notepad. lol
|
If you absolutely have to handcode, I like Notetab Lite...for cranking out sites, most reputable WYSIWYG editors work great...
The older I get the simpler my designs are...I don't have paysites, but lots of AVS Premiun sites and Photoshop or Paint Shop pro work fine for those. |

Dreamweaver for the complex shit...
Notepad to tweak things... Been using Macromedia Contribute lately to make quick changes without having to FTP shit... |
