50th Anniversary! Congrats Ma 'n Pa
 

Not as if they frequent GFY :ugone2far - but Happy 50th Anniversary to my folks - celebrating their golden milestone this weekend.

Longevity in marriages is sadly becoming a thing of the past these days - and as I told them on their 25th anniversary all those years ago - it's as much a celebration between them as it is a gift to their children.

So tonight we're gathering family together and going out to a nice posh Niagara eatery overlooking the lake.

In 1962:

JFK was president.
Diefenbaker was Prime Minister.
The first K-Mart and Wal-Mart stores opened.
Ford introduced the Fairlane.

- average family income was $6,000/yr.
- minimum hourly wage was $1.25
- a new house cost $15,000
- gallon of gas cost $0.50
- a new car cost $2,500
- a fastfood hamburger cost 20-cents
- a color TV set cost $400
- a movie ticket was 50-cents

Congrats to them, that is quite an accomplishment indeed.

My grandparents have over 65 years together and they are the best couple I know. It's incredible how good they get along.

I actually NEVER saw them fighting.
