Waste of time, screams unnatural to Google.

beks001 06-16-2012 09:08 AM

How can I get traffic if not submitting? I'm lost here. The only way I can get indexed fast and traffi is submitting to 20 directories. Any help is appreciated! Happy Saturday folks!

I only average less than 1 sale a month on each blog and that is a stretch and a half. Will not submitting and finding another way to drive traffic work better?

This is probably going to sound really harsh, so please accept this is not personal but just an observation.

Not everyone is cut out for this biz and some people despite trying alot of different things just make no money. Perhaps you just need to consider whether you wouldn't be better placing your efforts elsewhere.

On your specific question, you don't need to be in a blog directory to get traffic and the best traffic you can receive at this stage of your business is to get targeted search engine traffic. There's no short cut, you just need to create compelling content on your blogs day in day out and build build build. Your job is to tempt surfers to become porn subscribers and then deliver them to the sponsor that has sites that match what the surfer is interested in.

No offense taken at all. :) it's not like I don't make any money here. I just am not hitting my goal of 5-10k a month. Im not even close to it. But I'm on the board at least. Now I need to get ahead. :) your feedback is always valued in my eyes adult king! Thanks!

AdultKing, so I did some more research and it turns out that none of the top porn blogs are linking to any of the directories at all. These results must surely count for something. I think it's time a take a new approach to the building to see if it makes a difference! (:

Which sites do you consider top porn blogs?

If you are talking about a site with all original content and buckets of traffic, it would be a poor trade for them to effectively trade links with some Alexa 300k blog directory. For a blog with 20 visits a day, the blog directory can provide significant traffic on initial listing.

I just wait the 1-2 weeks, never had a blog not get indexed.

Agreed, but what is the long term effect of it? I really should've named the thread "So whats the verdict with blog directories and SE results?"

My main objective is to get traffic flowing and to get backlinks going so I can climb the rankings faster. But once those page 1 rankings on the directories are gone i'm left with a site full of directory links and me buried in the sand. lol It's worked in the past but I wonder...is there a better and smarter way to do it for longer term results?

Some of these bloggers are sitting on page one with 100 directory links on there blogs. Then there are some which have virtually no directory listings and are just linking to their own other blogs and they are on page one. Which is the best way is the question. I know that MP has done extremely well in this field. I admire his work and that keeps me motivated these days! To make good money one day. :)

Is a click from Google more valuable than a click from a blog directory?

You ask a lot of questions and folks here have been pretty generous with responses, so it seems like it would be appropriate for you to answer questions where possible:

Which sites do you consider top porn blogs?

A click from google is more valuable than a directory. You are right.

Yes, I do ask a lot of questions here. But I also contribute here too. I have a thread here with 535 responses where I update regularly on my progress including sales #s. https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1026884&page=11 I may not be very knowledgeable when it comes to adult but this is just a side thing for me and I do contribute where I can. It is the weekend too so I apologize for not being online on the forum much. :) I do appreciate all the help everyone gives and the contributions from everyone. Maybe you are right though. If I stopped wasting time posting and just did what I thought was right I would prob be atleast half way to my 10k goal mark.

To answer the question I think the best blogs are the following:
damplips.com
imagepost.com
babeunion.com
badgirlsblog.com
fleshbot.com

Running a blog directory is great...I don't even add my own blogs to my blog directory though.

I have found that submitting to blog directories is good for getting your blog indexed and ranked quicker but that's about it. I don't usually get many sales from directory traffic (if any at all) but a lot of my blogs start getting SE traffic quicker then not submitting.

I used to submit EVERY new blog I created but I stopped a month or so ago and the blogs I have created that I haven't submitted are doing about the same as if I had submitted them. Also, if you decide in the future to sell hardlinks on your blogs...some interested buyers don't like to see lots of outbound directory links.

I'll save you some time - the directories are not worth it.

Anexsia,
Awesome feedback. Thanks for the info my friend. I appreciate your contributions to the thread. :)

I guess the next real question is....do you resubmit to the ones that you've previously submitted to and have dropped your links or do you say...lesson learned and see ya later and drop all links!?!?!
