popeyes chicken is terrible.

Just gross. Bad texture, bad seasonings, bland, crap.

If i were Louisiana, I would sue popeyes to stop using the states name in their ads. There is nothing in popeyes chicken that represents Louisiana taste or culture in any way. Children might think poorly of louisiana & cajun food in general if popeyes chicken is "louisiana style"

Eww.

NaughtyRob 06-12-2012 05:11 PM

I am sure that it depends on the location. Some companies don't have it down to a science like McDonalds and KFC. If you go to those anywhere they will be consistant.

the lady who served me had some massive mams & i was most happy to gaze at her heavy cans while waiting for my shitty chicken. :thumbsup

The closest Popeyes to me is about 25 miles away. I have been there a couple of times when I was over in that area. Both time I just got chicken strips, but I thought the flavor was pretty good considering it is fast food.

No, it isn't real Cajun, but I think it is better than KFC

react 06-12-2012 06:20 PM

popeyes is the shiznit

MK Ultra 06-12-2012 06:22 PM

I sure could use me some red beans and rice right now :thumbsup

Their mashed potatoes and gravy are awesome. Never have liked their chicken much though.

Sorry bro, but only YOUR Popeyes sucks.
That shit is da bomb at a decent location.

I don't even go to KFC ever!
And that's too bad because KFC was the "mother of all da bombs" when their original recipe
was still the original recipe.

I'm going to guess that not cooking with lard is why the original will never be the
same.

Sorry for the younger peeps that missed the true original KFC. It was truly a treat!
KFC changed the face of who ate fried chicken in America.
Just look at the sign; Colonel Sanders don't look like any nigga I know.

:1orglaugh

Disclaimer : It is a fact the KFC and all other chicken places can not get the same quality
of bird that they used to years ago. That might be something that no recipe can fix.

Go get some Chick Fil A... That shit tastes like you are eating something that used to be chicken, but now is a flavorless piece of turd.

Which is actually kind of a good thing, because flavored turd isn't all that great either.

You had dinner with Currently Sober?

SomeCreep 06-13-2012 12:04 AM

Who remembers the 80's? Back then they were called Pioneer Chicken. KFC's main competitor.

There are still a handful of surviving Pioneer Chicken restaurants in the LA area. The one Sunset and Fountain is very good...they have stayed true to the OG recipe.

The one one on Olympic is FAKE...don't waste your time.

If you think that's bad............. did you ever try Church's chicken? I made the mistake of buying some in LA, for the road trip to Vegas in Jan this year. When I opened it up on the hgyw, it was totally dripping in grease, what was suppesd to be a crunchy skin. Had to use all the napkins ...(both of them), to dab them semi edible:disgust :throwup

Yeah I had some Church's in Oakland before...VERY greasy.

(Church's in the USA is different than the ones in British Columbia)

Part of the franchise agreement is that the operator installs bullet proof glass at the counters....at operator expense.

rock-reed 06-13-2012 04:18 AM

You're fucking crazy... Popeyes is the best.

BIGTYMER 06-13-2012 04:27 AM

And Taco Bell changed their meat recipe. The new stuff is bland crap!!!

Mutt 06-13-2012 05:07 AM

did you order the spicy version? chicken is pretty bland naturally, gotta do something with it to make it tasty.

Popeye's is usually great but the last time I got it there was something very strange about it - the breast i ordered was huge, too huge, gave me the creeps and it tasted bland and seemed oily. i've kinda been leery to get it since.

their spicy fries and cajun rice rock.

as far as being authentic New Orleans food - lol, it's a fast food chain. it's like expecting the pasta from PizzaHut or Dominos to taste like food from a restaurant in Little Italy.

tonyparra 06-13-2012 05:12 AM

Cleveland has the best chicken restaurants in the country, KFC cant even stay in business here because the competition is so much better

~Ray 06-13-2012 05:34 AM

Church's has great fried okra.

I was eating Broasted Chicken in the '50s when I was a kid - better than any of em now. Think they're still around?

garce 06-14-2012 11:03 PM

Popeyes here kicks ass. KFC used to be a collapsing sad bucket of grease. I tried KFC (or PFK in Montreal) and it was fresh, light, and crisp. No grease on the bucket.

Twenty years later, mY KFC finally makes light, crispy chicken. Still, they can't touch Popeyes or even Mary Brown's.

SwirlsGirl 06-14-2012 11:19 PM

I would have to agree about popeyes chicken...that is why I always stick to the side orders or shrimp basket

Socks 06-14-2012 11:43 PM

The best fried chicken comes from my deep fryer.
