ok guys, im officially lost about google penguin.
 

2 adult sites with 'exact-match.com' keyword domains.\

Same site setup, script etc.

About the same amount of links (>1000)

About the same amount of incoming site wide footer links. Both have about 6 big sites linking back which links with a site wide footer/sidebar link (meaning 100's of their pages link back to me). This is something penquin allegedly doesnt like.

Both sites have the same style of anchor texts, mostly the keywords because that is also the domain name.

Since penguin:
1 went from #4 to #1 in google.
1 went from #4 to page 50 in google.

Please explain.

What is the bounce rate and average time on page for each?

i only have awstats on these sites so 0-30 secs visits are:
87% for the one that dropped
85% for the #1

average time on site:
97 seconds for the dropped
91 seconds for #1

Yes I wouldn't be surprised if Google threw in a little randomness in the way they do things. It makes sense actually.

You're up against a black box. There's no way you can know or understand what is really going on. You can only make educated guesses.

My advice: don't waste too much of your time on trying to figure out what might be going on. Build more sites.

penguin is mistery and you can do shit about it

Hey nico-t can you ICQ me, I have a question and I might have an answer for you. I will pass on what I am trying to piece together.

I wish I knew, google hit basically 80% of my adult and mainstream sites pretty hard. Still hope that I will wake up one morning and this nightmare will be over, but it looks like it might be something like permanent penalty, which I really hope its not.

I think the big different between the two sites is that you got up to piss twice while making the one that went up, and only once while making the one that dropped in rank. That's very important and is after the latest google update plays a fundemantal role in determining your rank.

Out of 100 sites where everything that can be equal is equal for any particular search keyword:

1% will be number one in Google
and the other 9% will be on the rest of page one
and 90% will be complaining how Panda/Penguin etc fucked them up.

There's only 10 places on page one for any keyword, not everything has something to do with Panda/Penguin.

Shhh don't tell anyone.....
