A Texas father caught a man sexually assaulting his 4-year-old daughter and punched him in the head repeatedly, killing him, authorities said.
The father was casually acquainted with the alleged abuser, said Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon.
Neither has been publicly identified.
The girl was left inside the family's house during the social gathering, while other members of her family were tending to horses, the sheriff said.
The alleged abuser was known for his horse-grooming abilities, Harmon said.
The father returned to the house, caught the man in the act, and stopped him by striking him in the head several times, Harmon said.
The man was pronounced dead on the scene, while the daughter was taken to a local hospital in Victoria, Texas, for examinations before being released.
The incident took place Saturday.
Harmon described the girl as "OK besides the obvious mental trauma."
Asked whether they would press charges against the father, the sheriff responded, "You have a right to defend your daughter. He acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him."
Harmon described the dad as "very remorseful," adding that he didn't know the man was going to die.
Authorities were withholding the deceased man's name while they notified next of kin. Officials did not know immediately if he has a prior criminal history.

Great. The abuser was sick in his head and needed treatment and after that would still be a potential child fucker. Now he's dead so the problem is solved and the authorities should pay him a reward because they don't have to spend any money on prosecution, jail, treatment etc. Imagine all parents of abused kids doing this from now on, in 2 years there won't be any child abusers left.

People overly concerned with pedo vengeance are as creepy as pedos.

From a sad story this is a justified ending

They should give the guy a medal. And the little girl will probably never forget this experience, she is still the victim here.

Oddly I am against capital punishment to me that is just the state exacting revenge

HOWEVER

If someone is killed in the commission of a violent crime specially when its the victim or the victims family or its in any reasonable self defense I am all for it.

It's more vengeance than really justice, but it is someting i can understand.
At least it is faster.

Fortunately Jails and prisons do dish out a special type of 'Hell" for Pedos and Rapists.

i totally agree on that one.. the main person in here is the little girl, people think of the abuser and the dad, but what about the side effects that this will bring, this girl will be traumatized because other than being raped she will remember her father killed someone and trust me she wont think like oh hes a hero, she will be confused.. only 4 years old, i really wish she can have a regular life.. poor angel

She's getting to the age where they start dating and it's both interesting and frightening really. Some of her friends are already into the dating thing.

Would have done the same thing, but I would not have felt any remorse over killing him. Child molesters deserve death.

Understand the anger and rage, but you can't go around killing people --- and hopefully they can find some proof the girl was sexually assaulted, so there's some hope of him getting off. Also, do you want your 4 year old daughter to witness someone being beaten to death, even though it's a child molester? The guy was justified, but he made a pretty bad choice.

He's risking going to jail for a long time, and not being able to take care of his daughter.

They wont find a grand jury in Texas that will indict him. He acted in defense of his child, inside his home, and that kind of stuff is still allowed in Texas.

If he gets charged I predict any judge will throw it out. If it goes to jury, I predict 3 minute deliberation then not guilty.

It's not even right to assume a father would be capable of stopping himself from beating an attacker to death with his bare hands in that situation!
