The Blog Traffic Magic Q and A

So, I've been trying to determine the best way to increase blog traffic and take things to a new level. I am trying to decide which is the best way to do this.
-Is it building and submitting to directories?
-Is it buying feeder traffic? '
-Is it linking to your own established blogs?
-Is it using linkspun to build a huge amount of trades?
-Is it something I am completely missing here?

These are the questions floating around in my head. If anyone has any thoughts or opinions on the matter I would certainly love to hear your feedback. One thing I have noticed is that most of the very high traffic blogs do not link to directories. If not, then my question is how did they get ever so big?

Hey.....most importantly, lets all make it a great week ya hear! (: Happy Monday!

oh well...many things should work when it comes to traffic..i like to stay at
-se traffic (focus on new keywords in my posts time after time)
-linkspun link trades
-plugrush

i never really managed to buy good quality traffic so I'm not doing that anymore..i let google, bing and yahoo feed my blogs..so far so good :)

How does plugrush increase traffic? Please fill me in on that. :)

Best thing you could do for yourself is trial and error, that's how you stumble upon what nobody else is doing and end up making money. By always being here asking to be spoon fed every little piece of information you'll end up making close to nothing :2 cents:

Open your blog to submitters and uploaders. Aggregate hundreds of RSS feeds. Smash up hundreds of posts per day.

If you're not "social" (even if its negative or even irrelevant social input), Google is going to have a hard time listing your new site anywhere that matters.

I rarely use Google for anything more than spellcheck and word definitions these days. I can make a hundred different searches for a single topic and still receive the same - completely irrelevant - page. Just because lots of people link to a page does not mean the information it presents is useful.

Google is borderline irrelavant. Too bad they own they internet.

you receive 50 hits to your site from google
5 visits click 1 - 2 - 3 plugrush ads
you will receive a unique hit for every single hit you send...

oh well, let's stay at one click a time

so, you receive 50 hits from google
5 of that clicks a plugrush ad
you have 5 clicks back from other plugrush users

your total hits to your site: 55 ( 5 of this is gone with the plugrush widget and 5 comes back )

here's a quick stat for a brand new, few days old blog

day1: 0 unique hits
day2: 1 unique hit
day3: 78 unique hits
day4: 58 unique hits
day5: 57 unique hits

etc

Bing traffic is going to jump real soon...

One of the biggest things that people do wrong is think that any page 1 term on Google is great and is the main goal.. But without people searching that term, it is not profitable.

Also, people need to stop searching for keywords to target based on broad terms and competition levels in tools like Google's keyword tool. That is for cpc ad placement and how many people are searching for related terms that could have an ad appear on and the competition is how much you'll probably have to spend. I see too many people giving wrong info on this..

Before targeting a term (Not longtails, that's a different game..), search the term yourself and see how many 'real' sites are on the first few pages with that keyword and if it might have any alternate more popular meanings that has nothing to do with your site or auto-corrects or anything else that might help in giving an idea of how much work you'll have to do to rank high and if you even want to go through with doing it.

Other than SEO, you can also push link trades, but be sure to check links to and from your sites to make sure they aren't bs feeder or empty sites and try to link with 'link relevancy' instead of worrying about PR. If it is a blog and is updated regularly, the PR should rise on it's own :)

Linkspun is good and works well, but also try to search for good blogs and send an email if you can find one for trades as well. Many adult bloggers won't put their good sites on linkspun or anything similar. :thumbsup

Wouldn't aggregating hundreds of RSS feeds constitute dublicated content in Mr.G's eyes? I'm not trying to be funny I really don't know. The most I've ever been able to do on a saturday is 20 posts I think. hundreds a day is like whoa!

:upsidedow I might as well try to help, success stories are fun..
Edit: For example, a few years I was broke as shit living in the worst apartment that you can think of on a big college campus ghetto. So one day I found 3 late 90s computer cases with random components in an alley that I was able to rig together to barely work (333MHz, 1.2Gb HD, XP that was hacked and loaded to a blank desktop and no explorer.exe that I could exploit to open IE and work for 45 minutes at a time until it restarted with no warning..) and connected wirelessly to a 0.7Kbps connection from a donut shop 2 blocks away. Then I cashed checks at local head shops until I got to where I am today (2 houses and bought my dads house to stop foreclosure and gave my brother 10k a few months ago).

So, that's why I like to help :)

Also, anyone who has sent me an email in the past week or so, I've just been really busy on a few new projects, but I PROMISE I'll reply tonight or tomorrow :winkwink:

One other thing that you can work on is 'Selling' porn. Try different texts to lure the surfer in to want to buy more from the paysite (If that's how you're monetizing, of course.. :) ) than want to continue with your blog. Also, put linked selling text under related niche banners to entice the customer as well.

You can also be creative.
Example: If you have single model specific blogs, make a 'hot naked solo girls' or something similar blog as a broader niche, then make posts of the individual girls then make footer text like 'check out all of NAME's full picture and video collection in HD now before you finish jerking off!' linking to the tour or join now page and link the model's name in the post content text and link them to the model specific blogs. Links in posts as well as sidebars help a lot, too. :upsidedow

There is no reason why 1 person can't be a potential customer (unless it's a kid, someone without a cc, untargeted free porn surfer, came from an unrelated traffic source, etc....) But that's what cpm/cpc is for :upsidedow
