Converting to flash content in members area

We have a paysite that currently the movies within the members area are only downloadable. No streaming options are currently available.

Do any of you have recommendations on the best way to add a streamable option?

Any script suggestions etc?

We currently use MAS for our members area....we are just looking for a streamlined process to add the flash stream versions of our videos to give our members more options

My advice is do not use flash

use h.264 encoded mp4

I use ElevatedX which has this option out of the box.
I recently added Wowza into the mix to allow us to use H264 and it also streams better and more efficiently saving bandwidth.

You can see a mirror image of our members area using the streaming option in our freeview area at http://www.kinkykicks.net/freeview/

I recently started streaming videos using h.264 mp4's with Mansion Productions MAS CMS, and it has resolved many of the issues for me that you appear to be facing. :2 cents:

Good luck... :thumbsup

I agree 100%, you do NOT want to use flash. h.264 is def the way to go!! If you have questions or need help getting that done let me know.

It's been dais before, but all the big sites ate converting FROM Flash. Adobe themselves are killing off their Flash products.

HTML5 streaming is what to convert to, but not all clients support it yet, so you want a fallback. JW Player is a popular player that will use either HTML5 or Flash, whichever the client supports.

Do not think for a second that by suggesting that the browser stream the content you are in any way preventing them from saving it. It takes two clicks to install a plugin to save the video, then one click to save each video.

I agree with everybody to use h264/mp4. I convert all my videos locally from camera format to mp4 using Telestream Episode which provides with the best possible and most effective h264 compression. Inside the member section I stream the videos in an older flash video version of JW Player, the same files can also be downloaded to hard drive by the members for playback in Windows Media Player on their local PC.

MAS does not have that option?
Even if they do, I agree don't go flash.

Just get mechbunny script and email konrad that you want a download option for members only. Problem solved in about 5 days.
