Yep. When I was in high school that was when the big scare went down, and logically, I was also afraid I would catch it. In my brain, all I thought was if I don't use a rubber I'm going to catch AIDS.

Now days, seems like sex to younger girls is like going to a movie. Just something to do.

Friend spent a summer in Europe back then and said the girls there were much more casual about sex.

But even in the conservative Midwest, girls fucked. My high school had 3 grades. Each had 8 cheerleaders. Of those 24 girls, about 10 didn't get pregnant while at school. I figure most the rest got lucky or were careful. Local school district had a school called T.A.M.S. - Teen Aged Mothers. Once you started showing, you had to go there to graduate so you wouldn't "infect" the other girls with the idea of sex.

Girl I know, who has lived almost a different state in her life moved to So. Calif. when she was 18 (1987). Her and her sister was shocked that when they one afternoon hung out with a group of locals that the kids were just casually talking and they could tell that every girl had had sex with every guy. Not to say these two were virgins or prudes. Thought of just fucking every guy that came along didn't appeal. However, their older sister fucked at least 300 guys.

Probably one thing that prevented more pregnancies back then was the shame. Parents didn't want to tell neighbors and family their daughter was pregnant. So you know she didn't want to come and tell her parents.
