Post in this thread if you have NEVER downloaded anything pirated.
If you don't post in here, we will assume that you have.
Shortest thread in history? |

I have in the past, but I no longer do, and I don't let anyone in my household download pirated material.
|
I downloaded you mom, but I feel bad about it and would like to pay for a license now. Can you help?

Never movies, never music, once or twice I did take down some cheap software years and years ago, I have checked out tube sites to see how they do it (did I jerk? None of your business, but clearly it is too possible!), and a friend gave me some episodes of a series that wouldnt show her for a while).
Hmmm.... Close, but I guess I shouldt have posted..... |

Everyone has downloaded pirated shit, especially in the "wild west" days of the internet(early 2000's).
I used to get all of my graphics software on the cheap when I was a starving artist. Now I have a thriving business, and take pride in knowing that all of my software is legit -- and I sleep better at night. It's amazing to me how I can now spend $2000 on a piece of software and not even hesitate to do it. All of it is a tax write-off anyway. There's also the added benefit of the convenience of not having to look for something and apply a crack, with the risk of getting viruses. I haven't downloaded a movie in years, and all of my music is through Amazon, although I do use Spotify quite a lot. |

Bronco i must say now is wild west, not back in 2001....

1990's were wild west too. Lots and lots of BBS' with all kinds of software being uploaded and downloaded.
Usually they worked on a ratio system, so you had to upload something in order to download something. So the story goes. |
Never have and never will. I don't even accept bootleg copies that other people make and try to give me. Theft is theft. If I want it, I will buy it from a legitimate source, if it's available.
|
I think everyone has pirated something at some time in their life, even if they didn't know it at the time. Even recently I found out that I have been buying pirated movies from a professional DVD store IN THE MALL (in Thailand). We can get cheap bootleg copies on the street for about $3, which I avoid and didn't mind spending triple the cost for a non-pirated, real DVD, in a box. However, it turns out the "legit" store sells perfectly pirated copies that you would never notice until you go to watch the special features, which don't exist or 1/2 are dead. I never watch the special features but decided to for the latest Mission Impossible. Then we went back and looked at all we bought there, the same problem. Our only conclusion is they are pirated.
The kicker is, there are no other options to buy them to guarantee they are legit. The only store I thought was legit, isn't. What's worse, they may not even know it themselves. So do I keep buying what is probably pirated movies or never buy DVD again for the rest of years in Thailand? And for that matter, any country with relaxed copyright laws. What would Jesus do? |

Does that count ? . |

I haven't downloadeded, middelmen, the movie

I have downloaded three pirated pieces of media ever.
All were unavailable for purchase and I would have paid for access to them, if it were possible to do so. One was a special episode of West Wing. It aired at a different time from usual and it was not going to air again and I didn't want to miss an episode in the sequence or have to stop watching the show on broadcast until it hit Netflix. One was the unreleased Guns n' Roses album. It gave me a virus and, even though I did some press on it and most likely could have gotten a comp when it was released or close to actual release, I felt like I deserved that virus. The last was the second season of Downton Abbey, when it was available for free on British sites which blocked USA IPs. Whether using a proxy or download, the principal is kinda the same there. |
How can you sleep!? PIRATES!!!

I don't download but I watch www.projectfree.tv but only if Netflix doesn't have what I want to see on stream... usually the latest season of a TV show or something, sorry TV Networks but I am never going to watch your crappy cable ever again! Put it on Netflix or fuck off... :2 cents:

Besides linking images and youtube videos, no.
I fired employees for doing it on my premises. I found it shocking that programmers thought it was OK to download other peoples programs illegally. |
so just by posting in here people are safe?
