American History X - Best Race Relations Flick Ever
This is the first movie ever that made me feel like white guys would actually get sucked up in this shit as opposed to those movies with cartoon characters who just want to hate others cause it is fun and hip :thumbsup
|
very good movie. powerful performances, good message at the end
|
Awesome movie, but have u seen White Man's Burden ? That one will seriously mess with your head.

American History X was like what they should show in race relations classes if they have those now. It transcends that cultural bullshit we live with today and shows how white's are victim's too. I mean - fuck, it's all about money. Charles Barkley said that best when he said we are all living large at the top. |
Classic movie. Edward Norton was amazing. I can't stand Edward Furlong though. The look on his face the whole time made me happy to see he got shot in the end!
Sorry for the spoiler if you haven't seen this 10+ year old movie! haha |

Edward Norton is always awesome (Fight Club, Primal Fear, Oceans). He's also just cute enough I can see his strategies working in real life.
|
Greatest Scene in the movie. After he gets ass fucked, Hawk from Deep Space 9 asks him if anything he ever did in his life ever made his life better, and that was improve cause it ain't in the script.
No preachy bullshit or we owe blacks or blah blah blah Such an awesome flick! |
Loved this movie. The curb stomping is fucked up.
|
They never deny racism either, which is so awesome. They have a big scene about the kid he's connected to getting incarcerated cause he dropped a tv. Just saying.
|
Great movie ... the neck braking on the curb still disturbs me.

Want to know something surprising about that movie? It was directed by a guy named Tony Kaye, but when Edward Norton got involved in the editing process, Kaye objected and had his name removed from the credits (if you rent older copies of the movie you will see a "Directed by : Alan Smithee" credit instead of Kaye. The reasons why asked for his name to be removed became public, so he sued the studio for $200 Million. Lots of other cool stuff about this movie at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120586/trivia |
Great movie.. The scene just after the curb stomp when Derek turns around to get arrested and gives that little smile gives me the chills EVERYTIME I watch it (and I have watched it a bunch).. Powerful well played performance..

Awesome flick!~ many shit heads who talk lot about bullshit ain't in this thread
I have no respect for them any longer |
Edward Norton is great. Edward Furlong was trying to establish a movie career. That did not work out too well for him. Just another untalented child actor who fluked out with T2.
But the movie was great. More Norton than Furlong, but hey! Furlong: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000411/ Check out the amazing body of work since 1991. |

My favorite movie. It hit something like no other movie has for me, except maybe Passion.
|
Very good movie. The curb stomping was pretty brutal.
I would have never thought Edward Norton could have pulled that role off but he did a great job. I'd guess his performance in AH X was what got him the role in Fight Club. Should check out "25th Hour", which is another film he was in that was pretty damn good. |
Really good movie, some of the best work of Norton. :thumbsup
