We have a Roku hooked up to all of our TVs aside from the main one, which has the HTPC.

Great little devices.

How do you plan on driving "traffic" to a box that plugs into the TV?

Not knocking you, I've been in talks with Roku and Boxee for years about this, literally. Now they are allowing porn, it's great, Pink Visual were there from the start.

What I don't get, and this is obviously my failing, is how you drive traffic from the internet, to a set top box...

Interesting question Damian, but it's a bit like asking peeps on here How they do what they do to make sales.

If you have to ask.........

Once you get your channel set up, a lot of the traffic is driven internally through their own networks:

We actually have the highest rated Roku channel, even above Vivid, and we've been active barely a month.

http://adultchannelguide.com/channel...71-thread.html

Thing is, all of the traffic is driven through the Roku users members area:
https://owner.roku.com/Login/?ReturnUrl=%2fadd%2ffreaks - which requires a box and a password.

Starting tomorrow I'm going to push a lot more of our inhouse traffic to our Roku Channel.

If you are an affiliate, there isn't a ton of competition for this kind of thing. You could make some decent sales with a "Roku Porn" blog. We have it in our affiliate program at OCCash.

The thing about Roku, Boxee et al is that you have a bridge over the gap between the present and the time when the connected tv is the norm. The connected tv real estate is being carved up right now.

These devices give you a head start in terms of the brand awareness landgrab. Brands that dont build up a presense will be at a disadvantage in the future.

ALL of our development resources are currently focussed in this area. I particularly like Roku, I can instantly see who is watching our channels, their geographic location, which feed they are watching etc.

Obviously we have always had this info with websites, but with a TV audience it is absolute gold.

Never really thought about that. It's like the Nielsons of porn.

Ours is off to an encouraging start, which is something you never hear these days.

Looking at redoubling our efforts here as well.

:thumbsup

We have been impressed by the conversions as well, it is a more mainstream crowd compared to our niche from the customer service Q&A.

We haven't put any effort into Boxee as I don't see why any of those users would purchase adult content when the FREE Tubes take prime listings.

The other surprise has been retention, so we are more then happy with the results. :thumbsup

Thread saved. Thanks fellas. :)

Interesting. I just set one of these boxes up for my elderly neighbors. I got it set up for her, but I didn't actually look around much on it other then showing her how to use her netflix on it. Might have to spend the $50 and check it out better. Already have a HTPC so wasn't interested. Hmmmm.....

Hey Guys...

How much was involved in setting up your channels? How difficult is their interface to work with and connect to your content?

Whats the most streamlined way?

Marie 06-08-2012 02:44 AM

Very interesting. We were also talking with several companies to start doing this but indeed the question on how to drive traffic to/market it is a difficult one. But it looks way better now! Thanks and good luck to you Jay.

Nick, they are on it, but mainly on the Boxee where they are easier to find. One of the most popular adult channels on Roku simply pulls content from the tubes.:( The content has no banners or upsell so it is simply FREE content.

We looked at this as an opportunity, some that have come before us have abandon their adult channels. I do want to be clear, it is not gold mind, it is a nugget and it is working for us.

www.SCORETv.Tv in general, compared to our latest website www.scoreland2.com has half the membership with a lot of grunt work on my part.

:Oh crap:Oh crap:Oh crap

Thing is it does not really matter what the medium is these days, recorded content is free, interaction is the upsell.
