Domain parking - any experts here?
I am looking to pick someones brain on domain parking (mainstream but also adult).
I have the feeling that parking is slowly going to shit, now with Google exiting on Adsense for Domains... am I right? I have read that revenues have gone down steadily. Can anyone confirm this? Please share your experiences... if anyone has a few minutes to talk about Sedo I would greatly appreciate that. |
Parking has been slowly going to shit for a number of years now. The only things I ever remember hearing about Adsense for Domains were about how horrible the payouts were. If your thinking of using Sedo to park your domains I would say your probably better off using Bodis or Voodoo instead. Sedo just doesn't seem to pay as well as they do.

Tested them all many times portfolio wide. I'd have to say Bodis FTW as of late if going with just one. Templates suck but revenues were consistently good portfolio wide. There are a few services which will "optimize" your names to various parking programs which will ideally earn more. I haven't used any of those as of yet. Parking has never been the main earner for me. Back when fabulous was paying out a fortune for casino traffic things were good but not much money to be earned there anymore.

Could always try some white labels.

Parked
About 2 years ago I parked about 50 domains at GoDaddy. Some porn names some mainstream. The mainstream were knock off names of big companies. I'm surprised that the companies didn't complain. They were sites that get probably 1,000,000 visitors per day. So I never pushed the sites, just wanted to see if parking worked. GoDaddy charged me $24 for parking the sites. I think I made about $10. Didn't even bother to collect. Closed the corporation and the the domains. Plus out the money for the domain names.

It's dead. Write a script to quickly generate minisites and use that instead.

Wouldn't invest a lot of time or energy in parking these days. It is a nice temp measure while you create landing pages or a site.
We have seen revenues drop 70%+ over the last 5 years. |

Not sure why people would think that a parked adult domain paying .05/click or more with a 10-50% ctr is reasonable when you can buy that same traffic from an adult broker for .02/1000 clicks because that's exactly what its worth.
It's always been a business driven by advertiser ignorance and abuse. That couldn't last forever. And how are all these "adult domain parking" systems going? Pimproll, hosted tubes etc? You don't hear any success stories for a domain parking system thats forced to rely on the true value of the traffic do you? :2 cents: |

So true. The "REAL VALUE" is so low |
