Business Bank Account
Whats the best approach?
And what banks aren't dick fucks about the adult industry? Thanks lol |
Don't tell them it's adult. It's legal and none of their business.
|
So what do i say?
Just say something media? |
I had a bank of america business account back when i had an exclusive content site. Told the lady right out it was adult. She gave the surprised look, then took our deposit ($200 or so i think) and opened our account.
edit: it was a small business bank account. |
Don't tell them you do adult. Tell them you do internet affiliate sales. If they ask further...just tell them that "every store has a website and an affiliate program and I send traffic to them and get paid on commissions"

I learned the hard way... Never let anyone know you're involved in erotic, adult, XXX, etc. It can really make your life hell. They'll key the shit out of your car... And if they're friends with the police, they can add you to some black-list that will flag your car anytime they run your tags so you'll end up getting pulled over everywhere you go... Oh, some fuckwit even cancelled my personalized license plates at the DMV that said "ADULT". |
Jesus, Thats insane. Okay well thank you all for your help!
Ill just go with the internet marketing or media. As far as them, wanting to see the site what should i do about that? |
If they ask say Internet marketing.
Keep the domain you give them as your email address clean. I'm with Bank of America and deposit checks at the ATM. Employees don't even see my checks. They digitize them and process them that way and somebody comes around and services the ATM's. At least that's how it is at my branch. They never touch the cash or anything else. They can't even get into the machine if you lose your card ... that company takes it and destroys it. The machines are so advanced now that tellers don't need to touch them. Nobody in my bank has a clue what I do. Nor do they care. |

They said they want to see the site? Or is this more of a "what if"?
I don't think they'll want to see the site. They'll more than likely just be interested in making small chit-chat and you should have something to talk about in order to not sound like a weirdo. Whenever anyone wants to talk about my business I go into some really specific details about how much of a challenge it is to find underserved microniches that have a high enough volume of SE queries that make it worth my while, while also giving me enough of an edge to be able to rise up through the SERPs... it usually makes them stop asking questions. And if they do, I can talk about something even more specific that will really confuse the fuck out of them... I've never had anyone even try to continue a conversation with me once I go down that road. In fact the look on their face is usually one that says "This is over my head and I feel quite uncomfortable now..." Easy way to end things. :) |
If all else fails break out the terminology.
You're in Internet marketing and deal with search engine optimization techniques. That'll be that. :) |

I remember asking this question 15 years ago...
Ah, the pure bliss of the innocence of ignorance. |

Don't tell them anything. Just get a business license and that's that.

Don't open an account in the name of mypornosite.com, inc. :upsidedow |
Always do banking behind a corp Vail that's hard to pierce. Central banks are way less nosey.

Ditto on what many have already said about keeping it on the down low.
Bank personnel, even at small banks, are typically just cogs in the system ... and regardless of the friendly, buddy buddy persona they may present, most often have little to no real authority. Anyways, point is, another risk of not being discreet is the bank, even after many years of activity with no problems, later closing the bank account with little to no notice. |

Everyone around me knows what I do in business. I am not shy or secretive about it but I agree with Xenigo that all it takes is one wrong Jesus freak to find out and fuck around.:2 cents: |
Best bet is to not tell them it's adult. Even better is to not tell anyone.
Keep your mouth shut, make money and keep people out of your biz. |

whoops wrong thread

I made the skoolgirl error of telling my bank my business was graphic design for adult entertainment companies. Internal ethical policy soon showed me where the front door was...

Updating this thread!
Thank you all so much for your help! I actually just found out one of my friends works for a bank in my area and said he would be happy to help me out! It's all about knowing the right people I suppose! :) |
Bank Account
Call your business something like QWERTY INC. Tell the bank you do Internet marketing.
NEVER EVER call your business HUGETITSLESBIANPREGNATDILDIOBONDAGEWITHBIGBLACKCOC KS Inc.or something that obvious. Kind of like going into a bank and they ask what you do, "I rob banks, so I need to make a deposit with all this money marked with the robbery dye." |
