Business Bank Account

Whats the best approach?
And what banks aren't dick fucks about the adult industry?

Thanks lol

BIGTYMER 06-01-2012 10:56 PM

Don't tell them it's adult. It's legal and none of their business.

braylove 06-01-2012 11:00 PM

So what do i say?
Just say something media?

thegreatestporn 06-01-2012 11:06 PM

I had a bank of america business account back when i had an exclusive content site. Told the lady right out it was adult. She gave the surprised look, then took our deposit ($200 or so i think) and opened our account.

edit: it was a small business bank account.

Robbie 06-01-2012 11:09 PM

Don't tell them you do adult. Tell them you do internet affiliate sales. If they ask further...just tell them that "every store has a website and an affiliate program and I send traffic to them and get paid on commissions"

Correct. If they ask, tell them you're a professional photographer. If they ask what type of photography, tell them "weddings and portraits". Never... Never... Never tell them it's adult. It can make your life a hellish shitstorm. I've had business licenses rejected and declined, and USPS was sending back my checks to Epoch for years... YEARS. It made my life hell... just naively being obvious about my business. Believe me, I'm all about exercising my First Amendment rights... and wearing it on my sleeve, but not everyone is a reasonable person. There's a lot of religious nutbag zealots that will go above and beyond to make your life hell... merely because they know you're that "pervert pornographer" who "takes advantage of women and ch*****n, promoting rape and sexual perversion... ruining marriages, destroying lives, promoting sin, blah blah blah". And you may think that living in San Francisco these scenarios are impossible... Fuck yes they're 100% real. Trust me. Even here in the most liberal area of the US.

I learned the hard way... Never let anyone know you're involved in erotic, adult, XXX, etc. It can really make your life hell.

They'll key the shit out of your car... And if they're friends with the police, they can add you to some black-list that will flag your car anytime they run your tags so you'll end up getting pulled over everywhere you go... Oh, some fuckwit even cancelled my personalized license plates at the DMV that said "ADULT".

braylove 06-01-2012 11:27 PM

Jesus, Thats insane. Okay well thank you all for your help!
Ill just go with the internet marketing or media. As far as them, wanting to see the site what should i do about that?

epitome 06-01-2012 11:30 PM

If they ask say Internet marketing.

Keep the domain you give them as your email address clean.

I'm with Bank of America and deposit checks at the ATM. Employees don't even see my checks. They digitize them and process them that way and somebody comes around and services the ATM's. At least that's how it is at my branch. They never touch the cash or anything else. They can't even get into the machine if you lose your card ... that company takes it and destroys it.

The machines are so advanced now that tellers don't need to touch them.

Nobody in my bank has a clue what I do. Nor do they care.

There is no site. Your marketing is based on advertising. ;)

Ask them if 7-11 has to show them a cup of coffee to open an account and then get up and walk out.

xenigo 06-01-2012 11:35 PM

They said they want to see the site? Or is this more of a "what if"?

I don't think they'll want to see the site. They'll more than likely just be interested in making small chit-chat and you should have something to talk about in order to not sound like a weirdo. Whenever anyone wants to talk about my business I go into some really specific details about how much of a challenge it is to find underserved microniches that have a high enough volume of SE queries that make it worth my while, while also giving me enough of an edge to be able to rise up through the SERPs... it usually makes them stop asking questions. And if they do, I can talk about something even more specific that will really confuse the fuck out of them...

I've never had anyone even try to continue a conversation with me once I go down that road. In fact the look on their face is usually one that says "This is over my head and I feel quite uncomfortable now..." Easy way to end things. :)

BIGTYMER 06-01-2012 11:37 PM

If all else fails break out the terminology.

You're in Internet marketing and deal with search engine optimization techniques.

That'll be that. :)

It's always fun to watch people's eyes glaze over when you do that. For maximum effect go on and on about it for 15 minutes while acting really excited. They'll be afraid it will never end.

I remember asking this question 15 years ago...

Ah, the pure bliss of the innocence of ignorance.

Don't tell them anything. Just get a business license and that's that.

Don't forget the tax id too.

Barry-xlovecam 06-02-2012 07:04 AM

Don't open an account in the name of mypornosite.com, inc. :upsidedow
be world wide internet development corporation and feed them bullshit ...

Banks are not the Morals Police regardless what they may think.

scubadiver626 06-02-2012 08:25 AM

Always do banking behind a corp Vail that's hard to pierce. Central banks are way less nosey.

Dont say anything. Just whip out your cock, and show it to them...
After all, actions speak louder than words... :2 cents:

Ditto on what many have already said about keeping it on the down low.

Bank personnel, even at small banks, are typically just cogs in the system ... and regardless of the friendly, buddy buddy persona they may present, most often have little to no real authority.

Anyways, point is, another risk of not being discreet is the bank, even after many years of activity with no problems, later closing the bank account with little to no notice.

Good technique, I do that too. 'Domain acquisition and development and monetizing and targeting global web traffic'. Jigga what??? That's the look I get. lol I never bring up anything about photography or shooting because I feel that could always lead to 'oh what's your website?' etc.

Everyone around me knows what I do in business. I am not shy or secretive about it but I agree with Xenigo that all it takes is one wrong Jesus freak to find out and fuck around.:2 cents:

OneHungLo 06-03-2012 02:14 AM

Best bet is to not tell them it's adult. Even better is to not tell anyone.

Keep your mouth shut, make money and keep people out of your biz.

Updating this thread!

Thank you all so much for your help!
I actually just found out one of my friends works for a bank in my area and said he would be happy to help me out!

It's all about knowing the right people I suppose! :)

Bank Account

Call your business something like QWERTY INC. Tell the bank you do Internet marketing.

NEVER EVER call your business HUGETITSLESBIANPREGNATDILDIOBONDAGEWITHBIGBLACKCOC KS Inc.or something that obvious.

Kind of like going into a bank and they ask what you do, "I rob banks, so I need to make a deposit with all this money marked with the robbery dye."
