Sounds like something a filthy pole smoking homo would do.

A homo says what?

It's the adjectives and adverbs people use before and after the word 'gay' that will likely turn most occurrences into defamation... not the lone word by itself.
|
it's not defamation at all

"The traditional view of being called gay was like being called an evil person."
Hmm, I'm not trying to be funny here but seriously, I never looked at it that way. I always thought that someone calling you gay was someone saying you have sex with the same gender. Which, if you dont, could potentially damage your reputation with your wife or girlfriend, which is what this case was actually about. Strange case to make precedent. You'd think they'd wait for a case where someone WAS trying to use "gay" in place of "evil", and not a case where someone was trying to break up a man with his girlfriend by calling him gay. Which as it turned out, actually is what happened and why they brought the suit. Anyway, the whole thing is ganked. |
Well good. If the ruling had gone another way it would have really put a damper on everyone's enjoyment of the "you know how I know you're gay?" game.
We can't have that. |
I do agree. You are what you are.
If your gay, your gay; There's no getting around it. I have lots of gay friends and they all seem okay with this - They tell everyone they are gay, they tell everyone they are in a gay relationship, and they are hoping to have a gay marriage. Why would they be offended by being called gay? I think that calling someone gay and thinking it's a derogatory term is "so twenty years ago". I'll go a step further too. I'm Polish. But you can call me a fucking Polak all damn day long. Quote:

Is calling Jew a Jew still considered defamation of character?
If not, Fuck you Jew Jimmycooper. |

ie: if "gay" is used like "Haha you're a stupid gay moron dumbass!" then I agree it's just silly. but if "gay" is used like "You have sex with men and you're married! She should leave you because you're gay!" then I call it malicious slander. (unless it's true!) |
Depends on the homo :1orglaugh
