I can not stand Mosquitos. I itch for hours. I even keep benedryl spray on my nightstand so I can sleep.

I don't think I have ever seen mosquitoes fucking.

Do you ever make an 'x' in the bump with your fingernail? Don't know if it works, but been doing it since I was a kid.

They've been fucking my skin this week. Even during the day. I don't remember any mosquitoes last year.

You have the same grandmother as me?

I am so glad you didn't call me insane because I was wondering if I was the only one that does this.

I do think it works, but only for a few minutes. I think it only provides immediate relief.

I believe if we word the proposal correctly we could probably get a 7 figure government grant to find out.

We would need a test subject for biting. I nominate JohnnyClips. We should also see if pissing on mosquito bites is a remedy. I already know you'll volunteer for that.

The mosquito business has changed a lot. Adapt or die (became quite literally with West Nile Virus).

Despite living in a city on the ocean that is nicknamed the Venice of America for its hundreds of canals, and being close to the Everglades, this is the first time they've bothered me. We've had thunderstorms each day for the last week though and I suspect that has something to do with it. Of course, other than visiting, this is only my second year in South Florida, so maybe I got lucky last year.

They were actually much worse where I grew up on the water in Maryland.

The last mosquito that bit me had to book into the Betty Ford clinic.....

What are no-see-ums? Never heard of them.

Excellent show. Logo network in the US brought the show back but come to think of it, I haven't heard it mentioned in awhile. Maybe it got canceled again. :-(

NO-SEE-UMS!! Do they have those outside of the Carolinas coast? Those things are bad ass - good luck swatting what you can't see.

You're in Florida and you don't know what a no-see-um is? You are one lucky fucker then.. lol

They are "Biting midges", so small that you cannot see them.. hence the nickname no-see-ums.

They can make it through screens, and they typically stay low to the ground as they are so tiny/light that any breeze would wisk them away.

But they will tear the shit out of your ankles and legs (higher with no breeze).

Their bites are fierce and you usually get a shitload of bites not just a random one here and there as they tend to swarm.

Some people get a red spots (for every bite) that are up to 2 inches wide.
(not me, but they still itch like a motherfucker).

For some reason, they seem kinda seasonal to me.. not sure if they are or not.. but they typically are the worst around dusk.

I am not sure.. (They are common here in Florida..)

I do know that the Carolina Coasts have a ton of those sand fleas which are equally as nasty, maybe worse bite-pain-wise.. (those sand fleas are down here too.. but I think they might be more common in the Carolinas.. but hey I am no entomologist lol..)

Edit: actually i just "Binged" it and i guess sand fleas are no-see-ums.. as no-see-ums are a generalized categorization of like 4-5 species of small biting flies..

Where in USA do you have MOSQUITOS?

We keep one of these on the back deck - best product we've used. Fire it up, drop in the biscuit...mosquitos hate the things. Better than any citronella burners.
