My latest 'toy'...
Picked up one of these little gadgets the other night at The Source.
http://wpuploads.appadvice.com/wp-co...20-642x341.jpg Running it off an Acer tablet. Wicked HD video and stills! Still running a few test flights with it - should have some vids to post shortly. |

I was sure there would be a dildo in this thread...

Got any info on what you are referring to? |
NM, found it from The Source store.
Would LOVE to see what you do with this. |
That looks awesome! I want one :thumbsup
|
Cool looking toy,I wouldn't mind buying one myself

Hopin' to get another test flight with it tomorrow. So far I've had it up about a hundred feet ....before crashing it into a tree, lol. No damage, but we kept the video going during the crash. Kind've amusing. |
Wicked promo video for the AR Drone2.0
|
Nice, how much for something like this?
|
What is the Max altitude?
|
What is the range on these?

The one drawback to it is the battery life. Takes an hour and a half to charge and is good for about 12mins. in-flight (depending on if you're using the indoor or outdoor hull). I'm ordering additional batteries shortly. |
Edit: SK beat me to it
They go for around 400 bucks here's the specs http://ardrone2.parrot.com/ardrone-2/specifications/ |
I love those!

For some weird reason I remember this thread https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1065...hlight=hibachi and especially that post

Video quality is damn good! How fast can they fly? I read somewhere that you can lock them onto a moving object that they will follow - have you tried this? |
That is a badass toy :) looks like it got stuck in a tree tho LOL, how high was that? Someday I'm gonna buy one to play with.
|
Mine was delivered on the weekend, I love this thing!
Video quality isn't the best, but for what it is you can't really complain. |

Any girl's colleges near where you live? :Graucho :stoned ADG |

Nice. I thought I read last night that there are 2 onboard cams? One facing straight down? Got any of that footage? |

Don't know about locking it on to a moving object. I've only had the unit since Saturday and still just getting familiar with it. |

We fished it down with a ladder and telescoping pole while my neighbour made a great football catch as it fell, lol. No damage |

After a phone call and email exchange with tech support we were able to resolve the charger issue...which kept us sidelined off and on during the weekend when it failed to properly charge (something to do with unbalanced cells in the battery). It was an easy fix and seems to be workin' fine now. |

Post some vids when you get'em. As you say - the vid quality isn't the best...but its damn good for the price. I've seen vids on YouTube where guys are tethering GoPro cams to it and getting better quality images. I may give that a try eventually. For now I' want to get more comfortable and confident with the controls enough to take it down to the Falls and get shots over water with it. Although it floats, it's only "water-resistant" - not something I'd want to risk crashing in water with. |
pretty slick...
what happens when it gets out of range? does it crash and burn or does it have some safeguards to go back within range? |

Battery needs improvement

12mins on a 1.5hr. charge ain't a helluva lot of air time. |
Hats off to this guy with a WAY bigger set of nads than I've got - flying the battery charge to the max. 12mins. OVER WATER!!
Most amazing footage I've seen so far... |
that ar drone thing costs 500$ in my country
almost got one but I held it in my hands and it looked like it would break very easily.. kinda expensive toy to smash it on the wall |
I've flown the Parrot Drone and its a lot of fun, you can buy a fast charger and a couple of spare batteries and literally fly all day. Be careful in the wind, it's light and underpowered, you could lose it easily. You can also modify it to fly with a real radio instead of wifi if you want, its not too complicated to do.
Plenty of info on the stuff you can do to the things. http://www.ardrone-flyers.com/ My new camera ship Zombie 2 is under construction. Will be shooting 1080p video and a range of 1 to 3 miles depending on terrain. Costs a lot more and has to be built and customized, but thats the kind of stuff I like doing. http://www.hobbypartz.com/77p-sl1300-3s1p-30c-3333.html Just change the connector, the tamiya style connector on the parrot is a bad time waiting to happen anyway. |
What some people are doing with these
|
Very cool toy! Enjoy it!
|
I need something more along the lines of what these guys have got:
|
wow, awesome :D
|
Well I just broke down and ordered one as well. Every store within 100 km said they were out of stock, so I had to order online. Got it bundled with the extra battery as well. Hopefully it's doesn't take too long to show up.
