Hughes Billing

I'm finally getting around to setting up billing for my fiance's amateur site and I'm looking into Hughes Billing. Does anyone have any experience with these guys?

AOLGuy 02-11-2003 05:43 PM

not a clue...

try:

ProAdult

AVS is a much easier sell, and their premium Quantum program is excellent.

Jake 02-11-2003 06:53 PM

C'mon guys a little help here? They seem to have their shit together but I'd really like to hear from some people who use them?

ZoiNk 02-11-2003 06:57 PM

I never heard of them and don't know anyone that uses them. Try www.acpay.com or www.glo-bill.com if you want known billing companies. I would personally go with acpay over glo-bill. If you are a US resident and are willing to pay the $750 fee, go with Epoch.

I've never heard of them and they appear to have only been around since August, 2002.

They also appear to have a very messy signup page.

Cogitator 02-11-2003 07:19 PM

ccbill, globill, epoch, jettis, websitebilling. That's all I gotta say...

Only 3 months? That's not too bad. I've heard it's like 6 months of anal sex with no lube when IBill takes the deed to your house.

Didn't they loose their Merchant Account a while back?
I read something like that on another board.

So uhm, if you didn't go with Hughes Billing so far you might really want to look into that

SGS 06-08-2003 06:20 AM

Go with CCBill if you want a serious processor to make money with or GloBill if you are an amateur or a hobbyist and want to see all of your passwords all over the Internet. :2 cents:

Recently posted on another board:

To all of our clients :

Effective May 15 2003, Humboldt Bank the merchant bank for Hughes Billing assigned all of it's rights to First National Bank of Nevada (FNBA) of Reno. At this time, Hughes Billing was contacted and told that FNBA would no longer represent Hughes Billing due to the high volume of processing. Hughes Billing was given seven business days to find another merchant partner.

Reacting immediately, Hughes Billing was accepted by another processing bank to take the place of Humboldt Bank. At this time, it appeared there would be no processing interruptions to any of the Hughes Billing clients. Working with us, the new processing bank for Hughes Billing setup a temporary interim account to continue processing all sales until the High Risk account was established so none of our clients would experience any interruptions in service. Hughes Billing did not notify any of it's clients because there was the understanding that everything was under control and functioning smoothly. There was NO CAUSE for any concern.

However, a week after the new interim account was processing, auditors from the new merchant bank informed us this temporary interim account was not acceptable. So as of today, Hughes Billing is unable to process any transactions other than electronic checks. If you don't have electronic checks please write and we will get you set up ASAP

We deeply regret this situation. After talking with the new bank this morning, this problem will not be resolved for another week. We understand the difficulty this situation has caused. We are working very hard to get everyone up and running ASAP.

This does not effect your June 10th payout. It will go out on time as expected. All recurring will be ran once we start processing again so only new sales are affected.

CCBill has just as many, if not more hacked passwords than any other processor:

Their scripts are lame.

I assumed that "passwords all over the net" meant hacked. Your post seemed to infer that CCBill might be better on this issue than Globill.

I was just pointing out that Both Globill and CCBill have this problem.

SGS 06-08-2003 07:18 AM

I just think that it?s a plus point in this business if a processor can at least make an attempt to keep complete username and password lists from being downloaded from sites in seconds and shared all over the place. It?s only the fact that most GloBill sites are so small and run by newbees and hobbyists that this isn?t already a thread of its own. It?s only a matter of time I am sure? :2 cents:

I'm not sure I'm understanding your post but, if you're referring to CCBill, they don't need to download any lists. They can create their own passwords and user names --- no matter how many times the webmaster deletes them.

I agree that Globill has the same problems, but CCBill isn't much better.

And I've seen some Globill threads on other boards regarding this very same topic.

Mitch:

What merchant banks are you using these days?

As you can see from the Hughes statement, a lot of merchant banks seem to be getting out of adult.

I know some people who have used Netbilling that had to switch over and try to find other merchant banks or, go back to third party, because of this problem.

So I'm just trying to get a handle on which banks, if any, are processing adult merchant accounts through Netbilling.

I'm interested in specific names.

gothweb 06-08-2003 07:48 AM

At this point in time, I would say CCBill is the biller to go with. Too many of the others are on way too shaky ground (in a variety of ways). If you don't want to go with CCBill, Epoch seems pretty solid too.

Nevermind,

We have several relationships for merchant account banks. I will not post them on the board but I can tell you that we are setting up new merchants every day. It is EXTREMELY rare that one of our merchants has to go back to theird party processing. Fell free to contac t me directly to discuss.

humboldt bank canceled my account and i'm still waiting for my entire balance they have held since feb.

Kimmykim 06-09-2003 06:32 PM

Who is Hughes Billing?

Oh and on another note... when people don't have the htpass set up properly on their site, it doesn't make fuck all difference who their processor is.

Which is why I was asking for more info on banks that are still processing adult merchant accounts.

I wonder why Mitch won't post the names? Oh well ...

I would assume it's because a. it doesn't belong on this board in detail and b. different clients would qualify for different banks based on risk profile, credit history and monthly volume.

Personally I'd be rather freaked out if Mitch did start posting bank names on a public message board.
