the Starbucks truth

Canaanite worship consisted in human sacrifice, preferably first-born children, as a burnt offering to Ba'al and consort, Astarte. This detestable and inhuman pagan custom of slaying and then cremating the victim, also practiced at Tyre in honor of Melcarth, was severely condemned by the Mosaic Law and was made punishable by the death of the guilty party (Lev.18,21; 20, 2-5)

That's nice ~ but Astarte is a Near Eastern version of Aphrodite, Goddess of desire and sexuality. Also symbolizing the star that rules over the planet Venus.

Looks like a photoshop job to me. "Emboss", "Noise", some color fiddling, etc...

Also, Astarte was a very popular figure in many religions, as the consort of the chief god. Early judaism ("yahwehism") even had her as the consort of Yahweh... the guy we know as God. Not always associated with evil.

Starbucks, on the other hand, always has.

Last time I check Coffee Beans are hacked out of their pods and "cremated" in a coffee roasting oven.

Seems like a pretty good parallel really.
