WEBAIR SUCKS!! Managed Server down for 554 minutes and counting!!

WEBAIR SUCKS!! Managed Server down for 554 minutes and counting!!

I notified webair that my server crashed for the 2nd time this morning. They said they will get it back up, and then let me know. Now its many hours later, and my server is STILL DOWN and sites not loading properly.

My uptime monitor software is reporting 554 mins of downtime. Server keeps crashing.

They now hired bunch of Indian tech support guys who have no clue what they are doing/saying. I cannot get anyone on the line that can help..!!

I've been with them for years, and maybe the time has come to MOVE? I don't know!! But this is PATHETIC.

So webair if you are reading this, fix the situation because all my sites are not accessible and I am losing money every hour you fuck around with me!!

Thanks

It's not funny anymore :1orglaugh I am glad i moved from webair to mojohost.

ContentPimp 05-04-2012 07:25 AM

Here's further development. I talked to Mike M at Webair. he says I need more memory and issues a work order to upgrade my server to 6GB...

but...This is what they told me last time, so I upgraded... (Work Order[#21832] Work Order Complete... to 6GB on 4/7/2011 ---

so did they lie to me in the past and said they upgraded me to 6GB in 2011 when in fact they never did and i stayed at 4GB - because the current work order says to upgrade me to 6GB...?

something doesnt add up

i have a box at mojo as well, and when i am low on system resources ie hard disk space or memory they notify ME and don't wait for the server to crash for many, many hours.. mojo takes the proactive approach....

Just another WebAir success story...

Seems that you already know the answer to your question.

AllAboutCams 05-04-2012 07:34 AM

that sucks!

me too, I dunno if I'm getting the plan I'm paying for my host. DirectAdmin didn't tell whats plan he's taking care off

ContentPimp 05-04-2012 07:46 AM

apparently they upgraded my server old one had 6gb, new one 4gb.. anyway, still what i am missing here is the PROACTIVE approach MOJO has mastered... ie: when im running outta resources they will tell me so we avoid downtime/crashes, etc.....

Freaky_Akula 05-04-2012 08:03 AM

Webair = worst support.

Ron Bennett 05-04-2012 08:06 AM

One gets what they pay for. Top-notch hosting places don't outsource support and have well seasoned techs, but of course that adds a lot of cost.

Since most adult content isn't time critical and can be easily mirrored, an approach to consider, especially when using no-frills, poor support hosting, is to use multiple webhosting companies for redundancy.

EddyTheDog 05-04-2012 08:10 AM

Never liked them.....

If you want to contact me, DirectAdmin is pretty easy to figure out, so it should be fairly easy to determine what plan your host has you on through a process of elimination.

I can't imagine a box going offline because of low memory, it might be slow as fuck because of swapping but it won't just go offline

You've been on gfy for 4 years. Don't you people learn? I don't feel sorry for you. Really, i don't. I almost think you deserve it for being stupid.

Dirty F 05-04-2012 08:20 AM

You know what will happen? This will get fixed eventually, she will stay with them and in 2 months from now she will be here crying about their support again.

This is why I host with National Net.

Even before I was with National Net, one time when I have a server down... Fucking Tony Morgan called me up at 4am his time and helped me get it fixed.

Webair, you need someone who is competent to take a look at that server for you? I'll drop you my ICQ if you need it.

Agreed!! I've never had a problem with them either in 8.5 years plus. I absolutely LOVE WEBAIR! Always seems to be the same people bad mouthing them in here over and over. Things happen, people have issues, one issue in four years doesn't sound too bad to me. Chill out give them the chance to fix it. :liebe028:

I know TinaFaye has lots of sites and his business is not a one man show. Problems occur. With ALL hosting companies. If you have had no problem that means you have never ever been in a similar situation and you have no experience about this at all.
The question is if a problem, minor or major gets resolved in a reasonable time frame or not.

I know TinaFaye since the first month he is in adult and he is a Top Notch, 100% reliable honest Businessman and helpful friend. He is not making a sport of badmouthing anyone on this board or anywhere else, this semi-accusation is shameful.

Bump for a goddamn webair rep to show up and fix that box asap! :2 cents:

Yup, couldn't agree more... so much shit can go wrong with a server with any hosting company. It's all about support and downtime. :2 cents:

A server crashing because it doesn't have enough ram? Sounds a little odd... things may not respond or respond very slow, it should crash... except if it is a VPS configured wrong so dedicated resources was used in a shared resource pool.
Are you sure you got a deicated server and not a virtual private/dedicated server ?

WebairMetz 05-04-2012 01:27 PM

Hello Tinafaye,

I figured I would just respond to you here since this seems to be your choice of communication. We were seeing very high intermittent load spikes on the server. When the spikes occur, they don't last very long to the point where they set the monitors off but occasionally they're crashing the server. Specifically, we've seen when the crons that run at midnight consume all available memory. Those specific crons were emailed to you accordingly. we noticed that one of these was also recently added via another ticket. When we re-ran these manually we were able to cause the load issue. we were also seeing at times the wordpress sites spiking in resource utilization. We recommend ensuring that all wordpress sites have caching modules enabled.

We didn't see the server offline for 12 hours, nor for 554 mins. It was down after midnight and then over the last 2 hours while we took the server offline to upgrade it.

We added another another disk to the server so that we could move the MySQL data directory over to it to provide for more I/O resources to your mysql install. There was only 1 single disk in this server (as ordered) and the IOPs required by all of your applications is greater than what that disk can handle at times. Long term I recommend a separate mysql server since the applications installed are very demanding of mysql and its resources, or a WEBAIR FUSION CLOUD server which can provide about 50 times the IOPs of the disk in this server.

We have set up some custom monitors and will continue to keep an eye on this. Let me know if you have any issues and please let us know if you want to consider something like a mysql server or the fusion option. I will be happy to go over both of those options with you.

Best Regards,

Christina T. 05-04-2012 02:02 PM

See... Always 2 sides to every story. Good job Webair :thumbsup

I've been on GFY for ages but don't follow it closely. I've been with the biggest in the business and at that time I still didn't follow GFY closely. Why would anyone waste time here when you can spend it on making money? Maybe that goes for her as well? Just saying...

From admin level, go to bottom of Complete Usage Statistics you will see "avail" add them up and you have your disk size.

go to System Information and you will find out everything else

With that info you should be able to go to your hosts site and figure out which plan is yours (except for b/w)

You got a point for sure. But still even if you visit gfy every now and then you can't possibly miss all the threads about Webair "support".

Diomed 05-04-2012 06:23 PM

Say what you will about Webair,

Gerard is good peoples.

Speaking of, I completely forgot about that killer virtual plan he offered me.. I need to hit him up this weekend.. damn.

Webair sucks - that doesn't sound good. It's not good that server is down. Ideal hosts have better uptime and better support. Good luck.

...oh really.. so are you implying a 3rd party, unbiased server monitor program like www.uptimerobot.com (rated by many sites as the best uptime monitor site online) is lying?

..if pictures say a 1000 words then what do these say?

This shows total downtime my site was not accessible:

http://brzazarada.com/webair/1.jpg

This shows what happened after the Indians stopped working the night shift who couldn't help me when I alerted them of the downtime and waited till you guys in the US (that know your stuff) started working...and then got my server back up after oh-so-many minutes of downtime.

It's a good idea to use one or more of these services. I don't know about Up Time Robot, but Pingdom is free.

I've had real nice success for many years with Chris at Way3. If there's ever an issue it is handled quickly and personally by Chris. Very good service.
