Penguin Penalized Sites

if you got penalized, banned by latest update, just curious as to what your bounce rate
views per visit / time on site stats are?

Klen 05-01-2012 01:29 PM

49.62% bounce rate and 3 minute average visit per user.

tonyparra 05-01-2012 01:29 PM

30% bounce time on site 4 minutes

raymor 05-01-2012 01:36 PM

I'm curious how many penalized paid a lot of attenstion to SEO. On pages that dropped, were those pages designed more for SEO or for humans? That is, was the wording chosen to sell, or to rank?

My site was designed for humans, yet i was penalized like 14th times in row :Oh crap

Kelli58 05-02-2012 04:23 AM

My porn star sites typically have a bounce rate of below 30%, something I've always been really proud of! :)

How about anchor text on inbound links? Changed up enough to look natural, or same keyword combos over and over?

I mixing a lot of keywords, some keywords more then other's but still not abnormal.Plus i noticed some sites for which i know they have almost 100% same keyword as backlink was not penalized so that claim is probably bullshit.

u guys proly bought way too many blog links from blog farms

I'm sure there are plenty of other factors at play here of course. Was just wondering, as the only site of mine to get hit also happened to have the most similar incoming anchor text out of all the others.

So how do you recover from the penalty?

Start varying anchor text and then just wait it out, or port the site to a new domain with 301 and do a name change request through G?

Here's a link to the Penguin Analysis
http://www.micrositemasters.com/blog...ways-to-do-so/

".... What does this mean? It means that every single site we looked at which got negatively hit by the Penguin Update had a ?money keyword? as its anchor text for over 60% of its incoming links"

^^^ there could be some truth to that

"...penalized sites generally had very little links coming from domains and websites in the same niche"

^^^^ I think this is complete BS. I think that links that are placed within unrelated CONTENT are far more likely to contribute to the penalty rather than links from unrelated sites / domains.

It's funny, this has probably been one of my worst months for google traffic and one of my better months for sign ups that I can remember in a long while. Go figure.

interesting. Another google failure. What if your site has a money keyword name to begin with, like some of mine which got fucked. Then it's logical more than 60% of links have that same keyword as anchor. Everytime a new update rolls out i get fucked.

Jel 05-03-2012 03:43 AM

Such a clusterfuck it's not even worth trying to figure out the whys and wherefores at this stage. It's pure speculation with zero weighted evidence seeings how such a wide range of sites got fucked.

nico-t 05-03-2012 05:19 AM

weird little fact: some of my sites that got dropped increased in pagerank.
pagerank 1 to 2
pagerank 0 to 2

Pagerank has nothing to do with SEO rankings/results.

I didn't say that.
