Bump for that thread - interested to know about too...

That very much depends on the site. Smart phones and tablets are pretty good these days. The purpose of HTML and a web browser, as opposed to PDF, is that the browser renders the site appropriately for the device. So if the site is well coded, with proper HTML and CSS, it may be just a matter of leading the site on a couple mobile devices and seeing what doesn't work so well, then remove or adjust the appropriate CSS rules to eliminate assumptions about the client. By getting rid of assumptions about screen size, etc. you make the site work on all devices - past present and future.

Old but good article:

HTML 5:

Wordpress:

JQuery:

Paid Solutions:

You can sniff out mobile devices from your site and redirect them to a different css stylesheet or a subdomain with a smaller mobile friendly version as well.

You can also make a smaller, simpler, mobile friendly (large buttons/links, etc...) version of your site on a subdomain.
Maybe use something like this as a reference:
http://fetishhits.com/our-msites.html
The videos should scale for the mobile device you are using.
Use an html 5 player to play it and not flash since apple doesn't support/can't see it.

There are probably other or better ways to do it. These are just a few examples.

Best of luck

I have the W3TC plugin on one of my sites and it will forward to a mobile phone URL based on it's User/Agent list.

What I want to do is have separate mobile friendly video files created in Linux, or elswhere and uploaded. Isn't there a program tube sites use to convert their files in Linux to tube friendly sizes/formats?

Thanks Ray :thumbsup

Nokia has always had good documentation and samples

With todays mobile devices there's no need to create a separate website for it. But keep your code clean and validate it. For the videos it's best to use a common codec like H.264 base profile.

Use a tube script like MechBunny. It will build the mobile side for you, encoding and all.
