Battleship - the movie

Just watched Battleship.

Wow! I feel like I dropped a few IQ points. Great CGI f/x - but the script and dialogue seemed written by a 12-yo. And plot holes big enough to swallow a Buick.

Anyone else wasted time on this one?

Rihanna is having a roll, i think that give you good pointers what kind of movie is that, and i LIKE Liam Neeson to watch but Rihanna, wtf?!?...

SilentKnight 04-29-2012 12:29 PM

Liam Neeson was in the movie for all of about 8-10mins. Just enough to collect a paycheque.

Rhianna wasn't as bad as I thought she might be. Basically she was eye candy, though...and was limited to saying "Yes sir," and carrying a weapon. At least she didn't embarrass herself.

i like battleshits...

Not yet but I think I will watch it anyway, just for the popcorn.

just saw Cabin in the Woods and they had a preview for this POS.... it made no sense, 1st it looked like a love story, then a military flick, then a CGI non-descript water-based alien invasion? Retaaaarded!

If you really pay attention to anything you watch, there are always huge holes. My wife watches NCIS and sometimes the writing is so predictable and there are always huge holes in it. Everything is like that.

True...but some are more glaring than others. There were a few in this flick I'm sure even an 8yo. would say WTF?!

i.e. - the USS Missouri (decommissioned in 1998 and permanently parked in Pearl Harbour as a museum) is miraculously re-activated within minutes - complete with live ordinance, fuel and a crew of WWII navy veterans (who just happen to be on board when needed?!).

Hell, I'm willing to suspend disbelief along with the best of 'em for the sake of a good blow'em up action flick...but jeez Louise. I didn't know we literally had to leave our brains at the theatre door on the way in. :helpme

Cabin in the Woods was a good watch. Not what I thought it was going to be judging by just the title.

Most weekly TV shows are that way. My mom loves that show Monk and if you watch 10 minutes of it and use any common sense you would know that Monk would never be allowed within 100 yards of a crime scene.

Nah, if I am going to pay money to go watch a movie based on a board game, I am holding out for Settlers of Catan the Movie....

"I've got Wood for Sheep!"

Radical Bucks 04-29-2012 07:38 PM

Advance screening. :)

I watched it a couple of weeks ago, been out in thailand for 3 weeks, loved the first hour, mindless fun, then it got tedious, effects are awesome though, if you love special effects it's worth the entrance fee - if you like a plot, poking fingers in your eyes will be time better spent

2intense 04-30-2012 12:20 AM

i think its not bad at all

lucas131 04-30-2012 12:26 AM

smutnut 04-30-2012 03:42 AM

I still say HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS is going to kick ass! :winkwink:

baryl 04-30-2012 04:24 AM

If Hungry Hungry Hippos is real then we've officially hit rock-bottom.

It's based on a true story and one of the hippos is already being nominated for best supporting actor

If I see that damn trailer one more time....

okay hollywood, you've got me. Giant alien spacecraft, battleships and buildings exploding. I don't need to see the trailer every time I go to the theater.

Matt 26z 04-30-2012 07:46 AM

The delayed US release is to make their production money back before the US critics slam the movie. I think I read that it cost $200m to make and they are at $140m in revenue so far before the US release.

I'm disappointed to hear this movie sucks so bad 'cause it looked like it had a ton of potential. When I first saw the trailer a few months ago I was like, "Wow, that looks awesome." Almost every review I've seen so far has raked it over the coals. Sucks, because I'm a big Liam Neeson fan. Guess I'll be waiting until it comes to NetFlix in a few years. Ha.

Its a forkin moive.. enjoy the 60$ you and the wife or GF or both spent to go and forget about it.
