So my GF wants us to go to LA this summer...
Anyone got advice on a good place to find hotels / apartments? Like url's :)
Buying a trip with a danish travelling agency costs a fucking fortune and I figure someone here has the ins and outs of where to stay. We'd like to be somewhat near the beach. Thanks :thumbsup |
I've never used an agency for any trips. It's all out there on the Internet ;)
|
Is this for a peaceful journey of discovery? if not dont waste money. donate it.
|

Hit me up when you get here, I have a nice office on Wilshire. how long are you going to be here?
|
I know it is cliche but I have had good luck with Priceline.com. That would only be for hotels. If you are planning on staying for a long time and want to rent a place there is always the LA Times Classifieds or Craigslist.

Nalem will do when I'm back on a computer :)
Vendzilla we were thinking first 2 weeks of august :) |

Awesome. Well. You hit me up when you are here.. I can show you everything! Not just only LA!
Later down the road you show me Denmark in return :) |
www.booking.com www.expedia.com
Look www.cheaptickets.com (also look at the sites of the companies) Visit Vendzilla and make it a business trip. I drove route 1 from San Francisco to LA, great if you want to see more than LA. I was 2 nights in LA and didn't like it that much. Underway we just took motels. |
Although its not near the beach, I recommend OakWood Apartments
They have fully furnished aparts available for as long as you need, with EVERYTHING that you need in them ! Even down to a needle and thread in the kitchen draw! YMMV... |
Just go to Mexico. It'll be cheaper.
|
Its Los Angeles. Its not Venezuela or Costa Rica or even Mexico. Just get a hotel from a reputable company and let the bitch get tanned.
Its fucking L.A. Have a blast! |

Thanks for the input folks :thumbsup yea I'd need to do - something - that's business related so I can deduct this for tax reasons. |

Yea I bet :1orglaugh well it's her own words. She gained a lot over the last year, so she started a diet a month ago.. gained more lol that frustrated her.
Og forresten, hver dag er søndagsknaldedag :pimp |
I recommend the Beverly Hilton, I stayed there last summer, great location and very nice hotel... so long as you don't mind seeing Ferrari's, Lambos, Bentleys, parked outside all day lol.
|
Im also in LA ....hit me up on icq...i got hook ups on hotels, depends on where you at
|
Besides Disneyland, Universal City and Venice Beach you will find little of interest. OK it has some nice beaches, still a boring place unless your GF likes shopping. It does have some great malls.
This will be the site you'll need to study before worrying about a hotel. http://www.latourist.com/index.php?page=amusement-parks |

Guess the question would be how long are you going to be there and what kind of transportation will you have available. |

I'd go to Newport Beach ;)
http://www.littleinnbythebay.com/index.php is close to the pier, bar, bay and it's good price too. It's a little party town in this area with lots a girls and the bars go off too. Then just visit LA or even San Diego for the day because you're right in the middle. |

I would highly recommend you use one of these sites
www.airbnb.com www.vrbo.com www.homeaway.com So nice to have a fully furnished house or condo with all the amenities and a fridge. Saves so much money over a hotel and the nightly prices are comparable. Take a look and you will find tons of places that you can rent by the night, weekly, or whatever. Stay at one spot or move around. Fully worth it IMO. |

Other than that I'd want good food, maybe a party or two. See some turist stuff (I know she wants to go to the Holywood sign ofc). Quote:

Some great places to eat from Burgers, the real things, to gastronomic delights. Steer clear of most of the tourist and chain restaurants. Some awesome Mexican food in SoCal. Keep her away from Rodeo Drive, unless you have a Gold or better credit card. Take a trip to San Diego and some of the small old Mexican towns in Socal. In fact if you drive a few miles out of LA there's some really great small towns that time seemed to have past. Family owned diners and shops. |
Why you would want to goto LA is beyond me.
I'd tell you to go to San Diego or to the OC. That's where I go, when I visit. |
I'd recommend you go to San Diego if you mostly want beaches. Then rent a car and drive up the 5 to LA do do other stuff.
|
LA sucks, just my 3c. I hope you've seen other parts of America as well.

The scuba diving "course" is basically them "teaching" you how to scuba dive and you going out on your own. AMAZING experience as Catalina Island is the #1 scuba diving destination on the west coast :thumbsup . |

I loved Newport beach, I got stranded there on my motorcycle back in '08. Read the love here, almost screwed a Guatemalan but thought better of it. http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18512 |
every place in LA is retardedly expensive.
shoot me an email and I can tell you some places to look at. I used to live there for about 5 years and helped a number of friends when going there on vacation. There are some spots that are cheap but really nice hotels. You almost have to get a rental car anyway, so why not drive an extra 5-10 minutes and stay in a really nice apartment like hotel versus some dump and will cost 1/2 as much |
