Apple's are the Ivy League of computers. Some of you can't "get in". That's okay, you can go to a state school. You'll still get an education, you just won't have bragging rights. The intelligent members of society use Macs. The rest of you are still okay, just not amongst the elite.

This is the perfect comparison :). I couldn't think of a better one myself. A bunch of people who think they are getting something better because they are paying more. The OP is obviously trolling but in all seriousness. Apples are good for the newb's who think that apples are good because they cant get virus'. I hear that from a friend who is non-technical atleast 2-3 times a week when I ask them why they bought a MAC.

They just work. They don't cause problems. They last forever. Buying a PC is like buying a Pinto Wagon and buying a Mac is like buying something out of Robb Report (take your choice of fine auto).

And if I ever feel the need to slum it, all I've gotta do is restart my iMac, hold the right button, and boot into Windows 7.

Why is that most people I know who live in a MAC ecosystem do so because they only know enough to push the power button. They even admit as much to me -- "I don't know much about about computers, so a MAC and iPhone is good for me".

From my experience, its the exact opposite of what you claim.

That's not true at all. I spent most of my whole life "dealing" with PC's and Windows. Even worse, alot of that time was wasted due to things like viruses, poor performance, endless support, patches, config tweaks, on and on. It was fun sometimes, but not when I really needed to work.

Now that I've switched to Mac, I *Never* worry about any of that. It just works better. It's faster, nicer, slicker, much more quiet (no fan noise), etc. Networking is fast, easy to setup, blah blah blah. And also the workflow is just done better.

The biggest argument that I see against macs are from people who have never tried one, or ever looked into buying one. They tend to say that Macs are for "artists", graphics whizzes, video editors etc, which is true of course because tends to run programs like these better. Macs are also for coders. You can run Macs as servers, install endless libraries, and code like crazy.

You can even run Windows on a Mac in a dual-boot configuration, or best of all, you can run Windows at the exact same time as OS/X. You can have a "Windows" window open, run anything, and even drag & drop between Windows and OS/X applications. It doesn't do a choppy job of this either. It's perfect. It's super fast and seamless.

True Mac's cost more but they are very, very, worth the price. The few extra dollars you spend is easily made back in less time wasted, less headaches, etc.

Need proof? When is the last time you rebooted your PC? The last time I rebooted my Mac was 5 and a half weeks ago.

The trolls statement that not anyone can get one is silly even for a troll. Wal-Mart carries some Mac products. So I guess Macs are good for people of Wal-Mart. For "exclusivity" you'd point to the systems we use, which are not available at Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc.

I love what I do and have many fingers and toes in many different pies, but I've never made more money than 6-7 years ago when, for about 12 months, my main focus switched to iPods. Apple fans/users/switchers/impulse buyers/whoever set me up for life.

As a relatively young person, it's important to keep up with technology. Everyone who makes their living through the medium of technology should be reasonably competent with both Macs and PCs. It just makes sense, in the same way that man who makes his living through driving but doesn't know how to drive both automatic and manual does not belong behind the wheel. :2 cents:

I still say fuck that hipster Ubuntu shit, but unless you're a self-sustenance farmer in some 3rd world shithole, you should at least be fairly familiar with both OS X and Windows. Reading this? Get to know both. And people who make their living through porn on the Internet have NO excuse. Apple products aren't cheap and Windows users aren't all 14 year old torrent experts with a pirated OS.

I have a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro but I like windows.

Windows has a ton of software, games and drivers for every piece of crap hardware.

If Windows was POSIX compliant with a bash shell then I'd probably be using that and laughing all the way to the bank.

Don't even start with Linux; it's just not there yet.

I dual boot Windows and Linux and have Linux on my laptop. I used to use my girlfriend's apple ibook but didn't really care for OSX, to each their own though...whatever works for you and gets the job done.

Microsoft pays less. They paid 7% last year.

I have Windows 7 and never have any problems and never have to reboot. It works just as smooth as your Mac and was half the price.

Apple paid around 9.8% while WalMart paid 24%.

If they didn't want the corporation taxed and then shareholders taxed they should elected a different type of entity.

Edit, all of those other taxes you mentioned are paid BEFORE you arrive at your net. They help lower your net.

Apple computers are pretty well irrelevant in the real world. IPads, IPhones, IPods... they make a fortune. Useless, but fun and pretty.

Apple has given up on creating any useful productivity tools, and is focusing exclusively on entertainment and ease of use. Ease of use for idiots. Pretty tools of convenience. Shit, Apple turned to Intel to make their PCs useful and THAT didn't work.

That's what Apple does. They sell useless shit to fanboys and - once they're hooked - they sell the suckers their exclusive software. No different than the razor blade analogy. Once you buy our shiny handle you are stuck buying our fancy blades.

An Apple product is the handle of the razor, and they will do everything they can to sell you replacement blades. Here's your iPhone - buy more shit from our store! Their compuiters are useless. They've already sucked the Intel tit and have given up.

Very soon, Apple will phase out their over-priced and under-powered computers. The "AIR" was the pinnacle of Apple's arrogance. There is no need for Apple computers anymore. More profit in iPads and iPhones.

MACS are for newbies. There is no argument. Macs are a marketing ploy. You are paying twice as much for something that should really cost 1/2 as much. Its the same hardware as any Windows PC, running a Unix based operating system with MACs GUI. Congrats. MACs users are people who cant figure out how to use windows correctly or some kind of designers who for some reason thinks adobe is different on macs then on pcs.

Maybe.... I will agree that Windows 7 is great. But really, Microsoft lost me with Vista... XP was good, fast and fairly stable but even that one was prone to dozens of headaches that I simply never have to deal with with a Mac.

Anyway, the which-machine-is-better is pointless. The best machine, is the best machine "for you".

Mac's are best for me. PC's are best for you.
