When we were in Vegas for Internext I had to go across the street to the CVS pharmacy to get my coke so I could get the Mexican version. It's soooooo much better tasting!!

I think it's just got sugarcane in it instead of fructose syrup, like that throwback stuff.

cartels probably dissolve some of the bodies of their rivals at the production plant and mix it into the coke to give it that flavor

Aha! I never actually knew that, but that makes sense to me. I had no problem with Coke in Canada, and I have no problem with Coke in Mexico, but when I had Coke in the US I really didn't like it.

I've said the same thing to my friends and family about Mexican Coke tasting so great.

Man, I remember trying that pepsi throwback and it took me back to my childhood in one taste. I haven't had a soda/pop in years now, but I sure remember that.

Coca-Cola switched to HFCS in Canada in 1984 .....

It's not the bottles, the the drink inside - They make it differently in Mexico. Tastes great.

they use real old fashioned regular sugar in it, that's why it tastes so much better :2 cents:

I don't think Canadian coke is any different from us coke. Its just that in Canada there are no laws in place that require mfgs to state specifically whether they are using high fructose corn syrup or regular sugar/glucose. If the label doesn't specifically state cane sugar then you are probably getting hfcs.

This seems borderline criminal, considering the increasing rate of corn allergies. Corn is fairly unique in its ubiquitousness, you rarely find peanuts or shellfish in unexpected places, but with a corn allergy you can never skip reading an ingredients list. Ironic that the USA won't let the Corn industry obfuscate its usage like that, when we're the ones who propped corn up as a replacement for just about anything.

also something that would be interesting, is how much of the high fructose corn syrup that is being fed to the public by the millions of gallons is actually from GMO corn?

The big difference in coke here in Mex is that it is the old and real recipe. They never got new coke and then classic coke that was a mix of things. its the same and has been.

Mexico is one of the biggest consumers of coke in the world and I believe even ahead of the US.

Yeah there's an authentic mexican restaurant down the street I go to once a week that sells it. Good stuff.

The container plays a great part in it. Although Mexican coke taste good because it doesn't use corn syrup, a teetotal friend of mine only drinks coke. He can, and I've tested him, can differentiate between every type of packaging. Can, bottle, plastic bottle, 2 litre bottle, everything.

I think your right. I'm not sure if I could tell them apart, but I swear bottles taste best.

Yep, it's WAY better. It's because they use real sugar, not corn syrup. I get it at the grocery stores in Colorado.

I worked for Coca Cola for 9 years, I have a refurbished 66 cavalier coke machine that despenses 8 oz glass bottles. Coke has a bunch of different recipes. It differs depending on the country. They even still have the new coke in some places. Rule--Plastic bottle, corn sugar Glass bottle, Cane Sugar

just like beer, it's better drank out of glass than plastic or aluminum.
