Coca-Cola linked to death

In New Zealand 30 year old. Wonder why the headline isn't about 30 cigarettes a day? Is the Coca Cola more dangerous?

Quote:

Hodgkinson said she ate little and smoked about 30 cigarettes a day. In the months before her death, he said, Harris had experienced blood pressure problems and lacked energy.

Man, she should have at least done something harder than cola and smokes.

2 gallons of orange juice a day would most likely kill you faster.. does that make orange juice lethal? Or does that mean over consumption of anything is lethal?

Let's see, my Mom is 65 and has smoked a pack or two cigarettes a day and at least six cokes since she was 10. Clean bill of health, except for epilepsy. Heart disease and diabetes runs in the family, but she is healthy as can be.

A 19 or 20 year old I know that never smoke, drank or did much of anything except play outdoors died of cancer last Saturday (started as lung and spread, no smokers in house).

I think a lot more shit is tied to our genetic makeup and individual bodies than what we consume.

Some things might be bad for us, but if you look around, some people over consume the same thing with no consequences and others don't and face them.

Coca cola more dangerous?

She drank 2 gallons a day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8 fucking liters a day!

BIGTYMER 04-20-2012 10:25 AM

I'm doing GOMAD right now... Let's hope they don't find out milk is dangerous.

Brujah 04-20-2012 10:38 AM

Says they couldn't afford food.

Quote:

Mr Crerar asked Mr Hodgkinson if he knew that not having a balanced diet was bad for a person.

He replied: "Yeah, I suppose so. It's different being able to afford it with eight children. We ate what we could, when we could."
The family were hoping to obtain compensation from Coca-Cola for the children, who were now in care.

"Harris's partner, Chris Hodgkinson, testified that Harris drank between 8 and 10 litres of Coke every day."

Man 10 liters of liquid per day!!! Even if it was water it is a super crazy amount of liquid to be consuming every day. The body loses electrolytes with the passing of such a massive amount of liquid. You can die even from drinking water in this amount....

Mutt 04-20-2012 11:24 AM

ridiculous to blame Coca Cola - 8-10 litres, that's 4-5 of the big 2 litre bottles a day, don't even know how that's possible but i guess she managed it. Add in she was barely eating anything.

WarChild 04-20-2012 11:28 AM

That's between 3400 and 4250 calories or so a day from pure sugar. Good lord!

Roald 04-20-2012 11:34 AM

Stupid.

...

Kelli58 04-20-2012 12:36 PM

She couldn't afford to eat yet she could somehow afford to buy those cigarettes and all those bottles of coke.

That's a ton of soda. Four two liters everyday. Plus nearly 1 and a half pack of cigarettes a day.

It's only surprising that she lasted so long for a person who "ate little" and "lacked energy" and fed her habits like that. Plus, 8 kids at 30 yrs old? yikes. Poor kids.

You claim your Mom drank a six pack of Coke per day. I don't question that claim.

However, the girl in the article drank nearly 2 gallons per day, which is equal to 20 X 12OZ. Cokes per day, which equals approximately.. 3 six packs.

I'm not saying your Mom wasn't completely irresponsible in managing her own nutrition and health, but there is a sizable difference in quantities consumed.
