What is saint matin?

We have been there for a day during a Caribbean cruise and we spent almost all day at Maho Beach.
Not so much because of the planes (well you have to see that as well) but more for the amazing waves there. It was fun.

Enjoy the beautiful beach, otherwise it's nothing but jewelry stores.

During the day you have Mullet Bay if you like mostly tranquil beach with no wave, turquoise water and white sand. You can also try Dawn Beach which is a little further away, but is still off the tourist beaten track.

On the French side you have Orient beach, European style beach with a lot of restaurants/bar who rents chairs/umbrellas too. My favorite is Kontiki ( http://kontiki-sxm.com/galerie.html ).

There are a lot of diving trips available too, just make sure they are really certified.

Shopping is OK, lots of jewelry stores, some good deals on perfume and Rolex. And off course cheap, very cheap liquor, cigarettes and cigars. Try http://www.guavaberry.com/guavaberry.htm it's pretty good.

On the food side, there are a couple of great breakfast places in Marigot on the French side, in Grand Case you have some typical creole mini food court style on the beach, and there are many very good restaurants on both sides of the island with world renowned chefs. Just make sure to check reviews on trip advisors for restaurants. I liked La Marina in Marigot to go seat, have a drink and watch the scenery.

There are a few brothels on the SXM side, cheap fucks, you just need to be careful of your surroundings late at night. Casino wise it's on the Dutch side, club wise, I would stick to Maho on the Dutch side and a few places in Marigot too. I lived there for 7 years, never fucked so much, never drank and partied so much and almost never made so much money but after a while even that can become boring...

I personally got off of the cruise ship, found the beach, scored some pot, smoked the pot, passed out, really bad sunburn all over and nearly missed the last launch back to the cruise ship...

Cupecoy bay... Orient Bay (Get there early) ... Been there a long time ago, but if it's still available, you can rent a Sail boat for a island tour and go to Iles Tintamare (desert island)

You can also rent a catamaran and go to St-Bart for a day :thumbsup

Marigot (French Side) = Nice shopping, restaurants, etc... Jewelry is Duty Free there :winkwink:

The story goes that St. Maarten was split between the French and Dutch based on a foot race around the island. The two guys faced opposite directions and ran, where they met would be the dividing line from the starting point.

The French guy had a bottle of wine with him and the Dutchman had gin. The French guy sipped his wine and the Dutch guy drank his whole bottle of gin and passed out. Thus the reason for the larger French side of the island.

That's what they told me anyway when I was there. Nice story for tourists I guess.

I was there for a week with one of my ex-wives who was a big tit feature dancer. She was sent there by Gold Key (feature dancer agency).
