Question for GFY Admins

Hey are we still doing that thing where you have to be able to show that you are at least in some way working in the adult industry to be on this board? Just curious.

B.Barnato 04-19-2012 12:14 PM

Roald 04-19-2012 12:15 PM

I don't recall GFY ever doing that.

BIGTYMER 04-19-2012 01:56 PM

CyberHustler 04-19-2012 02:11 PM

Does sig whoring count as being in the industry? If not, then that's racist.

MaDalton 04-19-2012 02:15 PM

i have proof - see sig

mineistaken 04-19-2012 02:17 PM

Good rule, but I also not sure if they did it ever? Maybe in 2001?

Yes they did it and it was recent as in the last few years.

Fortunately I have a whole lot better memory than Rochard does.

anexsia 04-19-2012 02:40 PM

Yeah, when I got my account in 2010 they were doing it.

BIGTYMER 04-19-2012 02:47 PM

Glad I got in before.

DWB 04-19-2012 03:08 PM

I do wish they would clean the place up a little.

jimmycooper 04-19-2012 03:16 PM

Seems like it was a pretty popular rule at the time.

What's your problem with it?

.

No problem at all. Just curious if it's still the case.

anexsia 04-19-2012 03:27 PM

Not sure why surfers would want to be on GFY anyways...unless they want to watch Hood Tube videos and see people bitching about tubes and piracy all day. They would be wasting their time on GFY when they could be downloading full site rip torrents.

Barefootsies 04-23-2012 06:37 AM

I think they had announced that rule at one time on GFY. Eric had locked down the registrations, and it was more difficult to get approved and become a member here. Once AVN took over however, I think all of that changed. Which resulted in the new flood of troll delights.

They have a similar policy over at the XBIZ social network deal. If someone is trolling and people suspect they are not in the business, they can be called out and removed. They have publicly stated this, and done it on occasion apparently.

That being said, not sure it is pro-actively enforced any longer upon sign up. I think that once the shit gets piled high enough, people complain, they then ban them for your pleasure.

:2 cents:

DamageX 04-23-2012 07:33 AM

I don't think that rule would fly nowadays. Hell, they're letting trolls BACK IN, in order to keep the board alive.

digitalfantasies 04-23-2012 07:55 AM

I tried signing up in 2009 the first time, but nothing.. I had difficulties getting approved in 2010 as well, after several emails back and forth I was let into the zoo..

not so much an "adult check", but some kind of registration flaw

Harmon 04-23-2012 07:58 AM

I had to fill out an application that was approved by Joe.

garce 04-23-2012 02:49 PM

Wow. Except for Rochard and Damage X, ain't nothing but a boatload of noobs here.

Next thread?

I'm gonna go walk my dog and forget I posted anything at GFY today.

ROFL - This post is older than the one below it. huh huh

garce 04-23-2012 02:55 PM

OMG I missed Raold. Now I'm gonna pay... By eating a delicious hotdog.

My very serious bad...

videoscribe 04-23-2012 03:46 PM

Probably they are not doing that thing about forum rules. Anyway, I try to keep my posts informational. My posts have relevant content. About jerking off, I would say almost all the members are doing it.

Eric 04-23-2012 04:42 PM

email me and I will go from there.

lucas131 04-23-2012 05:20 PM

are you sure admins are still in this industry?

I'm safe...

Below, my convo with Robbie and then Eric from the thread linked above:

Then easy enough to get all the loudmouths who brag how they "used to be in adult" but now they are so smart and rich because they ONLY do "mainstream" and just come to GFY to make fun of us stupid people in the adult industry. They have posted it themselves here over and over.

Just getting rid of all the surfers on here who have outed themselves trying to pretend to be millionaires in "mainstream" will be easy enough and wipe out a shitload of 'em. :1orglaugh

The rest pretty much reveal themselves with their aggressive behavior and general lack of knowledge about how anything works in this business.

In the past I've had a few paysites up with content I've shot, and others in the works, but shit happens, stuff fell through, and I took everything offline. Right now, I do some webwork for a phone sex company, and am working on some projects with a somewhat established company in the adult biz who doesn't have much of an online presence, all working toward once again shooting my own stuff and launching my own program. But, with all that said, all I really have to show as proof are a couple of domains with placeholder "coming soon" images on them. I'm here for the fucking around, and I do read a lot and learn a lot from this board. But don't really have much proof of me being in the industry, though.

But then, I don't come here and try to stir up shit with people either, so...

Sounds to me like you're in the adult industry. It's a big industry with a lot of facets: Hookers, porn stars, strippers, shooters, agents, paysites, studios, designers, affiliates, phone sex, massage parlors, etc.

Once I finally get things rolling the way I want, that will most likely change, as I know there's a lot of you guys I'd love to work with from a business perspective. But looking at my posts and profile alone, I could be branded a surfer.

The mods will then follow up with that user with a private email to discuss with them their involvement in the industry. If it is determined that the user is part of the industry they will be cleared and allowed to stay.

Abuse of reporting users to the Mods will result in the reporting user being banned, this is not to be a situation where you say, "I don't like so and so, so I am going to report him as a surfer and get him banned."

It isn't a perfect system, but it is the best option we have.

Wouldn't Donny be a good candidate?

SilentKnight 04-23-2012 05:52 PM

Let's not forget those of us who are active in the industry but choose not to promote or advertise on GFY for various reasons.
