Help Fashion advice Needed . Can men wear white

Can men wear white to a wedding ?

RebelR 04-17-2012 01:58 PM

As long as its not before memorial day or after labor day, and as long as its not a wedding dress, or anything that resembles the brides dress, I would say you are in the clear.

In the Summer, and preferably linen.

Are those dates really a factor?

White what? Suit, jeans, linen pants?

Are you invited to both the wedding and reception or just reception?

Is it indoor, outdoor, what is the climate in that area? (White linen suit in a hot area is very acceptable....in alaska, probably not)

All of these questions sound ridiculous but they are all factored in. If it were to be me: if it's indoor stick with a traditional black suit or tux. Outdoor then possibly. Also make sure that the men in the groom's party (whatever the proper term is) AREN"T doing something similar. If your just going to the reception then yeah go for whatever is easiest.

Wedding and reception . Outdoors and warmish.

Yes I am gay but I fail to see how that effects the original question

BareBacked 04-18-2012 10:38 AM

Aside from the proper dates for white listed above ..... do you often wear white pants and coats? Can you keep clean? You will be wearing those clothes for hours, eating, drinking, sitting in numerous chairs/cars.

Personally I couldn't stay dirt free for more than 10 minutes.

Why would anyone wear white or have white exist. have you ever looked at the bottom of your socks after you have worn them? You know why sports players wear white? Cause they get a brand A new uniform each fucking game?

Even black sucks. You get anything white sticking out, lint, dandruff, skin shedding, etc.

You need to wear grey. It's the best DRACONIAN color ever. Be functional, not special. Only your retarded kid is special.

Seems there is a temperature clause when it comes to white as well. But then again, no one ever saw Col Sanders in dark clothing, and come to think of it.. Boss Hog from the Dukes of Hazzard, never wore dark clothing either.

As for the wedding issue.. seems you are in the clear on that one.

There comes a time in every man?s life when he wants to conquer the white suit. When it comes down to how to wear a white suit, however, there a few rules that you have to follow; knowing how to wear a white suit isn?t as cut and dry as throwing on a black or blue suit and going about your day.

The white suit has an appropriate time and place for wear, so before you start slipping into that stark blazer for your board meeting, follow our advice on how to wear a white suit so that you look as slick as your blanched slacks.
When to wear a white suit?
Unless you live very close to the equator, it must officially be summer and above 72 degrees Fahrenheit to don the white suit.
Where to wear a white suit?
Outdoor venues are the most appropriate places to strut your stylish stuff in a white suit. And, don?t fear; the ?no white? rule at weddings applies only to women, so sport your white suit at any outdoor wedding this summer.

Also, unless you?re Tom Wolfe, you shouldn?t be wearing a white suit in the city -- which also means you never wear one to the office.
How should a white suit fit?
You are not wearing a business-style suit here, fella. The white suit is a fashion suit, so look for one that's a slim fit with two buttons, and also tailored to your shoulders and tapered at the waist.
What colors pair best with a white suit?
Dress shirts: Some men make the mistake of seeing the white suit as a blank canvas with which to adorn themselves in multicolor, multi-stripe clown shirts. This, however, couldn?t be more wrong. To prove you know how to wear a white suit, opt for dress shirts in soft pastels (light blues, lilacs) or white with a pinpoint collar. A button-down collar is too conservative and a broad or cutaway collar is much too formal. Also, forget about any embroidery or patterns on the shirt. Keep it extremely simple.
