Google Checkout protects merchants against credit card chargebacks. READ!
Last September someone (I won't say who) contracted us to do a ton of work for them including software licensing, customizing software, web work, special scripts, training, technical support, etc, and paid for it all by credit card.
A few months later after receiving all of the goods and services and even benefiting from our work, they decide to chargeback. I get an email from Google asking what is up, and to forward all related documentation to them. Fortunately for us, we documented every single step in both email and via a private support forum, with screenshots, notes, and clear indications that they agree to everything every step of the way. I sent them everything, along with an overview of the whole job and why I thought we were right. Amazingly enough, despite the fact that this was a non-tangible item, a service-by-Internet job, an un touchable "thing" in the Ether that is Internet, Google Checkout, God Love them, REFUSED the Chargeback, and we were allowed to keep our money. If you do programming, graphics, editing, consulting, or other online work, use Google Checkout as a way to accept payment. Cheap rates and amazing, amazing merchant support. Very very impressed. |
this thread is useless without names.

Great tip, but out the scammer!
|
That's nice to hear. Given we deal in non-tangible items as well (but unique goods that we would be out if we sold and a chargeback was done), using PayPal has always had some risk and we've had to be careful at times. Good to know that Google is more in touch with reality.

Nice!
Another solution is Liberty reserve or Bitcoin. |

Would it then be up to Google to argue it out with the issuing bank - and Google would be out of pocket if the bank decide to support their client?
|
can google checkout be used for adult?
|
Do they allow adult related work? For tours and such??
Did not think that they would. |
Out the scammers!
|
Sounds to me like you had a huge amount of documentation...
|
Out the scammer! dammit!
|
They support only us/uk merchants so no use for most of us.
|
No they don't allow porn.
|
How are you able to use Google Checkout being from Canada?

...how long have I been saying this?
I have charged huge numbers through them. Never a single issue on collection. Money get wired right into my Corp account within days of the charge. PS. for the first few years they didn't charge ANYTHING - no fees! ...and you folks used Epass Etc...LOL |
Problem with them is if you read their TOS, you are agreeing with them running credit checks on you for eternity by signing up.

Don't process sites (non adult) with google checkout. I probably had 5000 transactions and then 1 person decided to do a chargeback on 5 months. That alerted a red flag in their book and they have kept $300 never to be released.
That is not a big number but my thinking is, what if 10 people charged back? Would they hold 3K? What is 1/5000 * 100 anyway? I think it is a very small percent number. Congrats to the OP though. |
Are we talking bout chargebacks or refund requests?
