descartes is a kik-ass company. their services lower costs by automating communication and shipping channels between buyers and sellers. for instance, just-in-time inventory accounting principles prove that it costs money for me to keep products on my shelves for too long. on the other hand, when a customer contacts me and wants a product, i need to have it available for them to purchase. descartes solutions automatically connect me to my suppliers so my inventory is optimized. so if my inventory of ink hits a certain level, a communication is automatically sent to my ink supllier to send me more. also, another cost-center descartes addresses is shipping. their software can tell me the most efficient way to ship products. either from my suppliers or to my customers.
