Flash banners usability ?

What do you think about ads made in Flash?

They can be made really eye-catchy and improve CTR, but what about all the surfers who use mobile devices for surfing? They can't see Flash, right?

So would running these kind of ads affect revenues? Is there some workaround?

detect browser
if mobile browser, show ads optimized for mobile browser
else if normal browser, show flash ads

What does Flash let you do in a banner that HTML5 can't do?

as an ad designer i am amazed at how many people want flash these days, after mobile traffic came on scene flash is costing you sales.

Theres lots of workarounds for older mobile devices these days. Whats more the iphone lifted restrictions on flash content couple years back . No probems with viewing flash on android. A well designed flash banner could increase your CTR five fold so I wouldnt be opposed to using them.

You're not a designer. You're a guy who makes banners. Everyone who installs photoshop is not a designer. That includes you. :2 cents:

I don't know how HTML5 works or if anyone makes banners in it.

I don't like apple and I have never tried surfing the web on iPad or iPhone. So i have no idea of their limitations.

You're saying iphone plays flash content? (i know that ipad doesn't)

Yup, that's pretty much what i've been thinking. Flash ads really stand out, and I figure that the increased CTR would cover for the lost mobile sales.

Yes it is funny. You calling yourself a designer and all. Too too funny.

I haven't had "clients" in 3-4 years. I am good enough to develop my own sites now.

Even when I had clients it was a "short list" because they had me booked everyday of the year.

There is a reason why your client list is so long and you had to resort to cleaning up oil. After using you few dare to buy again because you lack skill and knowledge.

Indeed, don't see much repeat business from these big adult companies in his portfolio.

:(

None of the banners I looked at even had a call to action. Just a flashing mid 90s CLICK HERE. No why. No motivation. The cock pills could have had "click here for free sample", NALEM's shitty chargeback company could have had "Click here to see how much you could be saving". Anything really would be better than no call to action at all.
