Canon Cinema 1D 4K Announced

Doesn't seem like all that much to get excited about since seeing what SONY's FS700 will be offering for almost 1/2 the price.

Canon have announced the $15,000 Cinema 1D. As previously leaked on EOSHD, this DSLR has 4K recording arability, S35mm crop mode, 1080/60p, log profile and uncompressed HDMI output.

I think the Cinema 1D is both hugely controversial and a very attractive proposition for filmmakers.

and it is only 1d

They announced and showed the C500 (in prototype form) as well, which would explain why they left things off of this camera that people were clamoring for.

I don't see too many of these being sold. The C300 is just a little bit more and the FS700 has better specs for half the price.

1D > 5D > 7D

but C500 > C300

Do you guys have your eyes on the FS700 now?

I'm more than happy with the 100, but I have a feeling a 700 will find it's way into my possession at some point in the next year. I was waiting to see what this Canon announcement was going to be, and this pretty much seals the deal.

24 hours later and Canon is no longer the darling of the indie/low budget film community.

Bet they never expected that crowd to turn on them so quickly.

Wow, that is very interesting... A lot of things can change in a day.

Half the price and still 4k with decent FPS capabilities. Who wouldn't?
